CRIME BRANCH TO ORGANISE 3-DAY MEGA EXHIBITION ON NEW CRIMINAL LAWS AT GULSHAN GROUND JAMMU FROM 22nd-24th SEPT, 2025;
Besides Dignitaries From Judiciary, Police & Civil Admn, Thousands Of Students, Scholars, Educationists & People Are Expected To Participate In The Highly Educative Exhibition.

Jammu, Sept 19: In pursuance of the directions of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, the Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Jammu is going to organize three-day mega exhibition on new criminal laws at Gulshan Ground Jammu from 22nd to 24th of September, 2025, 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Sharing details, SSP Benam Tosh, who has been designated as Nodal Officer for the grand exhibition, told that the spacious exhibition of this kind is being organized first time in Jammu under the supervision of DGP J&K, Nalin Prabhat IPS and IGP Crime J&K, Sujit Kumar Singh IPS. Earlier on 11th of September 2025, the similar exhibition was organized at Srinagar where Hon'ble LG J&K was the chief guest.
The objective of organizing grand exhibition is to create awareness in layman's language among masses regarding latest reforms brought about in criminal justice system in terms of new criminal laws and to educate students as also all those concerned with implementing new criminal laws at cutting-edge- level.
District Police, Health Deptt / MedLEaPR Portal , Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Prisons , Police Control Room (PCR), Women Police Station, Cyber Police Station, Prosecution, ANTF, CICE, SCW, EOW Crime Branch Jammu, Fingerprints Bureau J&K, Crime Record Bureau/CCTNS etc. are going to showcase their current functioning vis-à-vis new criminal laws ie Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakhsha Adhniyam (BSA).
Besides dignitaries from Judiciary, Police, & civil administration, thousands of students, scholars, educationists and people are expected to participate in the highly educative exhibition.

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasized the need to complement Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism success story with an equally robust industrial growth, calling upon industry leaders to view J&K as a viable and promising investment destination.

Addressing the 4th meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Regional Council 2025-26, held in Srinagar, the Chief Minister acknowledged that while the focus in recent months has largely been on tourism, industrial growth has not received the same attention. He assured stakeholders that the government is determined to correct this imbalance by strengthening the investment ecosystem across Jammu and Kashmir.

Div Com reviews implementation of National Clean Air Program in Jammu City

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee to review the implementation of action plan for improvement of Air quality in the district and implementation of National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).

The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, Regional Director, Pollution Control Committee, Jammu, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Joint Commissioner JMC.

The Divisional Commissioner was apprised about the expenditure of funds under NCAP for 2024-25 with sector wise interventions to reduce the air pollution in the city. The key focus areas included end to end paving of Roads for dust control, greenery development, mechanical road sweeping, greening of open areas and traffic corridors, improvement of traffic junctions for decongestion.

He was also apprised on the involvement of schools and colleges for mass awareness and public outreach programs.

Reviewing the proposals of projects for the year 2025-26, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that a total of 14 road improvement works worth Rs 868.14 lakh and eight projects for development of green spaces at the cost of Rs 721.26 lakh have been taken up by the Jammu Municipal Corporation.

The new projects include end to end pavement of different roads in the city, lying of concrete interlocking tiles and beautification of garbage vulnerable points. Projects under Green spaces development include landscaping and construction of Green strips along different major roads.

Enquiring about the tendering process of the projects, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officials for expeditious implementation of all projects with focus on quality of works and timely competition.

He issued directions to ensure downward flow of water from the drains along the roads and construction of water soaking pits to avoid water logging.

GULMARG, SEPTEMBER 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the Gulmarg Convention Centre, expressing hope that the world-class facility would help position Gulmarg as a premier destination for international events and conventions, “on the scale of an Asian or Indian Davos.”

Constructed at a cost of Rs 21 crore by the NBCC, the Centre aims to promote tourism, culture, business convergence and international conferencing in Jammu and Kashmir. Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Gulmarg Pirzada Farooq A Shah, Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa, Director Tourism Kashmir Raja Farooq Yaqoob, CEO GDA Tariq Hussain and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of the Ski Hire Shop, to be developed by the J&K Cable Car Corporation, further strengthening Gulmarg’s tourism infrastructure.

Arvind Gupta holds interactive meeting with residents of Anand Nagar, assures redressal of water, power woes

JAMMU, Sep 18: MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta, visited Anand Nagar, Ward No. 41, where he held an interactive meeting with the residents to take stock of local issues and listen to their grievances.

The meeting witnessed active participation from people of the area, who raised concerns primarily regarding shortage of drinking water and irregular electricity supply.

Residents highlighted that the community has been facing severe hardships due to recurring water scarcity, especially during peak summer months, and frequent power cuts have further compounded their problems. They urged the MLA to ensure long-term solutions rather than temporary measures.

Listening patiently to all the concerns, Arvind Gupta assured the residents that their issues would be taken up on priority.

He said, “The people of Anand Nagar have always been supportive, and it is my responsibility to resolve their problems. Water and electricity are basic needs, and I will ensure that both departments work efficiently to address the grievances at the earliest.”

Gupta also directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to expedite measures for improving water supply. He specifically recommended the construction of a new tube well in the locality to cater to the growing demand and mitigate the issue of water scarcity in the long run. He further assured that the matter of electricity supply would be taken up with the concerned authorities to ensure uninterrupted service.

The MLA emphasized that continuous engagement with residents is vital for transparent governance and assured them that he would conduct regular visits to monitor progress on developmental works.

Prominent personalities present during the meeting included Ex-Corporator Sanjay Baru, Senior BJP Leader Jatin Sethi, Booth President Lokesh Bhagat, and Market Association President Ashok Singh Wazir, along with several local residents.

The residents expressed satisfaction over the MLA’s proactive approach and hoped that their long-pending demands would soon be fulfilled.

Over 2200 fruit-laden trucks evacuated via Mughal Road during past 24 hours: Div Com Kashmir

President Fruit Growers & Traders Association expresses gratitude to Chief Secretary J&K for prompt & timely action

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16: In a major relief to fruit growers and traders of valley, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today informed that over 2,200 fruit-laden trucks were successfully evacuated via the Mughal Road during the past twenty-four hours.

Taking cognizance of the situation, Div Com undertook a comprehensive visit to Peer Ki Gali Mughal Road to ensure smooth movement of fruit trucks. He also visited Fruit Mandi Aglar, Shopian, where he held detailed interactions with various stakeholders, including fruit growers, traders, transporters, and representatives of the horticulture sector.

During the visit, Div Com reiterated the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the movement of fruit-laden trucks, along with ensuring the uninterrupted supply of fuel and essential commodities to the valley.

He emphasized that coordinated efforts between civil administration and security agencies led to the swift clearance of the fruit vehicles, bringing much-needed respite to the horticulture community.

Expressing appreciation for the prompt action, President of the Fruit Growers & Traders Association, Mohammad Ashraf extended gratitude to the Chief Secretary J&K for his timely & prompt intervention and directions, which facilitated the smooth transportation process.

Div Com also urged all stakeholders to adhere to traffic regulations and designated movement timings to maintain order and ensure continuous flow along the Mughal Road. He further noted that restoration work on the National Highway (NH) is being carried out on a war footing to enhance connectivity.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Director FCS&CA, Owais Ahmad; Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta; SSP Shopian, Anayat Ali; SSP Traffic, and other senior officials from the district administration, BRO, and traffic departments.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch and SSP Poonch also joined Div Com during the visit to oversee coordination from the other end of the route.

GCW Parade hosts Induction Programme for Fresher

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 15: The Induction Programme for the newly admitted students of Semester-I (Session 2025-26) was organized here at Government College for Women Parade Ground. The programme aimed to welcome the fresh entrants and to acquaint them with the academic environment, facilities, rules and rich legacy of the institution.

The Principal of the College, Dr Ravender Kumar Tickoo, in his welcome address, congratulated the students on securing admission to one of the premier women’s institutions of the region. The Principal highlighted the college’s achievements in academics, co-curricular and extracurricular fields, and urged the students to maintain discipline, sincerity and regularity in their studies.

Faculty members introduced the students to the curriculum structure that includes Major Course, Minor Course, Multidisciplinary Course, Value Added course and Skill Enhancement Course, examination pattern, library facilities, NSS, NCC, skill courses and other student-support services. Emphasis was also laid on value-based education, gender sensitization, personality development and career opportunities.

Special sessions were held to familiarize the students with anti-ragging guidelines, grievances redressal mechanisms and facilities such as laboratories, ICT-enabled classrooms, sports and cultural activities.

The Coordinators of different Committees and Clubs motivated the students to actively participate in academic and extension activities.

All Deans of the College, Dr Ritu Mangotra (Dean Humanities), Dr Sanjeet Kour (Dean Sciences), Dr Alpana (Dean Research), Prof Samta Sharma (Dean Social Sciences) and Dr Sunita Raina (Dean Commerce) coordinated the Induction Programme-2025 under the supervision of the overall coordinator of Prof. Anjali Abrol (Dean Academic Affairs).

The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students shared their aspirations and received guidance from teachers. The event proved to be highly informative and inspiring, ensuring that the freshers feel confident, comfortable and motivated to begin their new academic journey.
