*Mega Plantation Drive Organised under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Campaign*
Nagrota, August 24, 2026: A Mega Plantation Drive was organised today at Govt Girls Model Higher Secondary School, Kandoli Nagrota by the Forest Department under the inspiring theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, dedicated to honouring mothers and promoting environmental conservation.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, IAS, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was graced by Sh. Sher Singh, JKAS, ADDC Jammu; Dr. Rajesh Sharma, JKAS, ADC Jammu; Ms. Vidhi, IAS; officers of the Education Department; Sh. Mushtaq Ahmed, Joint Director School Education; Sh. Romi Kumar, Joint Director School Education; Sh. Pardeep Singh Rakwal, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Jammu; and various officers of the Forest Department.
The Principal of the school, Smt. Rekha Rani, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries by presenting chunris and planters as a gesture of respect and honour.
Addressing the students and staff, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, emphasised the significance of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign and encouraged every student to adopt a plant in the name of their mother, nurture it with love and care, and take responsibility for its growth. He highlighted that planting a tree is not merely an environmental activity but also a meaningful tribute to mothers and a commitment towards a healthier future.
The dignitaries, students and staff actively participated in the plantation drive and planted saplings in the school premises. The students displayed great enthusiasm and pledged to protect and nurture the planted saplings.
The programme aimed at inculcating a sense of environmental responsibility among students and strengthening the message that every tree planted today is an investment in a greener, healthier and sustainable tomorrow.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to continue plantation activities and protect the environment under the spirit of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”
