*Reasi, December 09, 2025:* District Police Reasi achieved a major breakthrough by solving two snatching incidents reported from the Katra–SMVD track area, leading to the arrest of four accused persons and recovery of stolen property.
𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭: 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 – 𝗙𝗜𝗥 𝟯𝟯𝟬/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱
On 09.12.2025, one lady, Rupika Bhardwaj W/O Sumit Tomar R/O Meerut, UP, reported at Police Post Ban Ganga that around 0330 hours, two unknown persons snatched her handbag while she was returning from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track.
Acting swiftly, FIR No. 330/2025 U/S 304(2)/3(5) BNS was registered and investigation taken up by IC PP Ban Ganga.
During the enquiry, CCTV footage from the area was thoroughly examined, leading to the detention of two suspects. During sustained questioning, both confessed to their involvement in the crime. Upon their disclosure, one snatched handbag, two mobile phones, and other valuables worth ₹50,000 were recovered.
Accused Arrested in Case FIR 330/2025:
1. Lekh Raj S/O Romesh Chand R/O Ladda, Udhampur
2. Gufoor Mohd. S/O Hashim Din R/O Kun Kalyana, Panthal, Katra
𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮: 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 – 𝗙𝗜𝗥 𝟯𝟯𝟰/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱
In another incident, Swati Sharma W/O Vishal Sharma R/O Vivek Vihar, Delhi, submitted an online complaint via WhatsApp to SHO Katra. She reported that around 0415 hours, while she and her mother were proceeding for darshan, two unknown thieves followed them from RFID Counter No. 2 and snatched their purse containing approximately ₹25,000 cash, two Aadhaar cards, three ATM cards (Kotak, Bank of India & PNB), hotel key, home key and luggage key.
Based on the e-complaint, FIR No. 334/2025 U/S 304(2)/3(5) BNS was registered at Police Station Katra.
Accused Arrested in Case FIR 334/2025:
1. Badal Kumar S/O Dalip Kumar R/O Panjar, Teh. Moungri, Udhampur
2. Balwan Chand S/O Bodh Raj R/O Dubi Gali, Teh. Moungri, Udhampur
District Police Reasi, through timely action, technical analysis of CCTV footage and sustained interrogation, successfully cracked both cases within a short span, ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims and restoring public confidence.
The entire operation was carried out by 𝗜/𝗖 𝗣𝗣 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗣𝗦𝗜 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝘂𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗮𝗹 and 𝗦𝗛𝗢 𝗣/𝗦 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽. 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗮𝗼, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗗𝗣𝗢 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺 𝗗𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘆, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗣 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗵. 𝗩𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗻, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦.
