Vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was suspended from both ends on Wednesday morning following incessant rainfall and multiple incidents of shooting stones and mudslides along the arterial road.Jammu local news

According to the Traffic Police, traffic was halted at 9:30 a.m. after heavy rain affected the entire highway, making travel unsafe at several vulnerable stretches. The closure comes amid continuing adverse weather that has triggered landslides and disrupted normal movement across parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid undertaking any journey on NH-44 until weather conditions improve and the highway is declared safe for traffic.

JAMMU:In a significant step towards the inauguration of Tawi Wonderland Park, Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav, IAS, conducted a comprehensive review of the park's preparedness to ensure a seamless experience for visitors.
Accompanied by Project Director Sunil Thusoo and senior officials of Jammu Smart City Limited, Dr. Yadav inspected various facilities and infrastructure developed within the park. The team reviewed the readiness of visitor amenities, landscaping, recreational zones, safety measures, cleanliness, lighting, and other essential services to ensure that all arrangements are in place before the park is opened to the public.
During the inspection, Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency so that visitors can enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable recreational experience. He also directed the concerned officials to complete any remaining works on priority and ensure that every facility is fully functional ahead of the inauguration.
Tawi Wonderland Park is one of the key recreational projects being developed under the Jammu Smart City Mission and is expected to emerge as a major attraction for residents and tourists alike, offering modern leisure and entertainment facilities while enhancing the city's urban landscape.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu launches "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" Campaign

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar (IAS)today launched the Jammu division leg of "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat", a nationwide campaign of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports run through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).

The Divisional Commissioner said a drug-free society is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders and appreciated the efforts of MY Bharat in engaging youth through creative activities. The active participation of young people, he said, is essential to realising the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and a Viksit Bharat.

He assured support for the campaign and its district-level events, which will see the participation of educational institutions, youth organisations and the general public and called upon the youth to register on the MY Bharat portal to take part in the proposed programmes.

The campaign, organised by MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, aims to mobilise youth against substance abuse through awareness, creative expression and community participation. Debates, declamation, painting, slogan writing, quiz, folk song, folk dance and reel-making competitions will be held across the districts of the Union Territory.

As part of the campaign, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the participants and administer the Nasha Mukt pledge. The Union Home Minister will grace the Nasha Mukt Youth Conclave on August 14.

State Director MY Bharat Jammu and Kashmir Nitin Hangloo thanked the Divisional Commissioner for launching the campaign poster and reaffirmed MY Bharat's commitment to mobilising youth across the Union Territory towards building a drug-free and developed India.

Among those present were Dean Students Welfare Jammu University Prof Prakash Anthal, Sports Administrator and MY Bharat Ambassador for J&K Ranjeet Kalra, State Director MY Bharat J&K Nitin Hangloo, besides other officials and volunteers of MY Bharat.
