SAMBA POLICE ACHIEVES MAJOR SUCCESS IN ITS WAR AGAINST DRUGS; 02 LADY DRUG PEDDLERS ARRESTED WITH 100 GRAMS HE**IN LIKE SUBSTANCE

Samba: August 01, 2026: In a major breakthrough in its sustained campaign against drug trafficking, Samba Police has arrested two lady drug peddlers and recovered approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.

Acting promptly on reliable information, a police team from Police Station Vijaypur launched a swift operation and intercepted two women pedestrians on Tarapur Road who were moving towards the Vijaypur side under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from their possession.

The lady drug peddlers identified as Noora Jan W/o Mohd Yaqoob @ Yooqa D/o Masoom Ali R/o Sarore and Noor Jahan W/o Mohd Yaqoob @ Yooqa D/o Miya Bashir R/o Rakh Barotian, both presently residing at Rahya tehsil Vijaypur district Samba have been arrested and the contraband item has also been seized on the spot by the police.

A case FIR No. 133/2026 u/s 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started to ascertain the forward and backward linkages so that the entire drug network involved can be unearthed.

During the course of investigation, it has also come to light that Mohd Yaqoob @ Yooqa, the husband of both accused, is a notorious drug peddler and is involved in 17 cases under the NDPS Act and other criminal offences registered at various police stations in the districts of Jammu, Samba and Reasi. Investigation is also underway to examine his linkages with the objective of exposing the entire drug network.

SSP Samba reiterated that District Police Samba remains fully committed to its relentless war against drugs and will continue to take stringent action against drug peddlers and traffickers to make the district drug-free. He emphasized that no individual involved in narcotics-related activities will be spared under the law.

ORDER

In pursuance of the directions issued by the Worthy District Development Commissioner, Doda, and considering the prevailing inclement weather conditions, as well as in continuation of the advisory already in force, it is hereby ordered that all Government as well as Private Schools across District Doda shall remain closed for today, i.e., 01-08-2026, as a precautionary measure to safeguard the well-being of students and staff.

However, all schools shall ensure that online classes are conducted as per the prescribed timetable without any disruption.

*Doda Police Solved Burglary Case at Kahara (Gandoh); Stolen Gold and Silver Ornaments Worth ₹6 Lakh Recovered, Three Apprehended*

Doda, July 31:

In a significant breakthrough, Doda Police has successfully solved a burglary case registered at Police Station Gandoh by recovering stolen gold and silver ornaments worth approximately *₹6 lakh* and apprehending three persons involved in the crime.

On 21.07.2026, an application was received at Police Post Kahara from a complainant alleging that during the intervening night of 13/14.07.2026, unknown persons had broken open the locks of his residence and decamped with gold and silver ornaments.

Acting promptly on the complaint, FIR No. 84/2026 was registered on 21.07.2026 under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation was immediately taken up.

The investigation was conducted by IC Police Post Kahara under the leadership of SHO Police Station Gandoh. Through sustained investigation, relentless efforts, meticulous technical analysis, and persistent follow-up by the investigating team, the case was successfully worked out. During the course of investigation, the stolen gold and silver ornaments were recovered. The total value of the recovered property is approximately ₹6 lakh.

In connection with the case, the following persons have been apprehended:

1. Mohd. Ismail S/o Hasham Din, R/o Pashalla Tipri, District Kishtwar.
2. One Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) (identity withheld in accordance with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015).
3. Himanshu Verma S/o Dhruv Verma, R/o Sukrala, Billawar, District Kathua.

Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain whether the accused are involved in any other criminal activities.

District Police Doda remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and will continue to take firm action against all forms of crime. Citizens are requested to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police establishment.
