CM Omar Abdullah inaugurates Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood — Kashmir’s First Chrysanthemum Theme Garden

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 25: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood (Chrysanthemum Theme Garden) at the picturesque Botanical Garden in Srinagar, marking a new milestone in the Valley’s tourism and floriculture landscape.

Developed at a cost of ₹1.869 crore, the Chrysanthemum Theme Garden spans over 100 kanals and is envisioned as a major autumn attraction in Kashmir. With its vibrant blooms in shades of yellow, red, pink, and purple, the garden promises to infuse new color and charm into the Valley’s tourism calendar during the autumn months.

The Chief Minister cut the ceremonial ribbon and declared the garden open to the public, describing it as “a floral celebration that adds a new chapter to Kashmir’s tourism story.”

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister commended the efforts of the Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens for its role in establishing the theme garden.

He noted that the initiative would “address the off-season gap in tourism and enhance the autumn experience for visitors.”

Omar Abdullah recalled that he had laid the foundation stone of Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood in November last year, drawing parallels with the success of the Tulip Garden. “Just as the Tulip Garden transformed the spring tourist season, the Chrysanthemum Garden will redefine autumn tourism in Kashmir,” he remarked.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated an exhibition featuring a wide range of ornamental, lavender, and other floral varieties cultivated by local growers with departmental support. He interacted with the floriculturists and appreciated the dedication and craftsmanship of the gardeners and field staff whose efforts brought the blooms to life.

The event was attended by MLA Zadibal Tanveer Sadiq, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Floriculture Zubair Ahmed, Secretary Culture, Director Floriculture Kashmir and other senior officials.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha victory is triumph of organization and truth: Sat Sharma

Sat Sharma receives rousing welcome in Jammu following historic Rajya Sabha victory

Jammu, 25 October 2025:

Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma (CA) was accorded a rousing and emotional welcome on his arrival in Jammu following his remarkable victory in the Rajya Sabha election. Jubilant party workers and senior BJP leaders gathered in large numbers at Jammu Airport, extending a grand reception marked with garlands, cheers, and slogans in celebration of the victory.

From the airport, Sat Sharma, accompanied by senior party leaders, moved in a massive rally towards the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, where he was again greeted with enthusiastic celebrations, sloganeering, and showering of flowers by hundreds of BJP workers and supporters.

The felicitation programme at the party headquarters witnessed the presence of senior leaders, including Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma, BJP National Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh, J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, and Gopal Mahajan, and MLAs Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Arvind Gupta, Th. Randhir Singh, Surinder Bhagat, Mohan Lal Bhagat, among others.

During the programme, Sat Sharma, overwhelmed by the affection shown by the party cadre, extended his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, National General Secretary & J&K Prabhari Tarun Chugh, as well as all senior party colleagues and grassroots workers of the J&K BJP.

Sat Sharma said that this position is not for enjoyment but for service, service to the nation, the organization, and the people. Reflecting on the journey that led to the victory, he described it as “the triumph of truth, brotherhood, and organizational strength”, crediting Prime Minister Modi’s mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ for the success.

Sharma praised Sunil Sharma for his tireless organizational work throughout the election process, affectionately referring to him as “Arjuna and Chanakya” of the campaign. He also commended Chander Prakash Ganga for his unparalleled dedication, noting how he cast his vote and immediately departed to attend the final rites of his wife, an act that deeply moved everyone.

Sat Sharma added that the celebrations outside Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, after the victory were “mesmerizing and unprecedented,” symbolizing the devotion and spirit of BJP workers across Jammu & Kashmir. He reaffirmed his commitment to work tirelessly for the organization, expressing heartfelt gratitude to every worker and well-wisher for their unwavering love, blessings, and support.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Sharma lauded the exemplary organizational discipline of BJP cadre, which, he said, has earned the party growing support from every corner of the Union Territory. He pointed out that many MLAs across parties, particularly from the National Conference, are expressing dissatisfaction with the current state government and seeking a new political direction aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of peace and development in Jammu & Kashmir. This support in the Rajya Sabha election is just the beginning, he said and sincerely expressed his gratitude to all the MLAs who have extended their support for this cause.

Earlier, BJP leaders expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Chander Prakash Ganga for their loss.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Gopal Mahajan, while the vote of thanks was presented by Baldev Singh Billawaria.

Later, Sat Sharma, along with senior party leaders, visited the Mata Bawe Wali Shrine to seek divine blessings. Subsequently, they paid a visit to the residence of MLA and senior leader Chander Prakash Ganga to personally convey heartfelt tributes and solidarity with the bereaved family.
