In continuation of Sports week celebrations, a cricket match was held between Faculty members cricket team under the captainship of Dr Satish Parihar and a team of admnistrative officals of GMC &AH under the captainship of Bhushan, PA. The team of faculty members played the match in full sportsman spirit however they lost the match and administration team declared winning team as they lost by 7 wickets.

Annual sports meet inauguration was held at Govt. Medical College, Jammu at Indoor stadium complex, GMC Jammu by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, Govt Medical College, Jammu.

The various sports activity will continue w.e.f 02 nov 2023 to 08th Nov 2023. The Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu on the inaugural function said while adressing all senior HoDs, Sr. Faculty Members, Members of Administration and students that it is very important that sports activity are being regularly held at GMC jammu which will go long way for overall carrer devlopment of our MBBS student with such recreational sports activities beside academic development. He congruralted the sports committee members i.e. Dr. Parmod kalsotra, Dr. Vipan Magotra, Dr. Harleen kour, Dr. Satish Parihar, Dr. Manish Singh, Dr. Vinod katil for conducting of such activity. Dr. Samim, intern, Dr. Sanah facilitate all the HoDs (clinical/non clinical) by honoring them with traditional turban. The sports complex was Jam packed by HoDs, Faculty Members, PG, UG students.

Various activity like cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, Fotball, athletic, basketball, chess. The End of the week will be commenecd on 10th feb of this month which was annouced by Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu

*Wreath laying ceremony for Martyr Gh Mohd Dar held at DPL Baramulla*

*Baramulla, 31 October, 2023*

To pay honour and respect to Head Constable Gh Mohd Dar resident of Wailoo Pattan, who attained martyrdom today late evening in a terror attack outside his residential house. A wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines Baramulla. Civil & Police Officers including DIG NKR Baramulla Shri Vivek Gupta-IPS, SSP Baramulla Shri Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, CO 53 Bn CRPF, ADDC Baramulla Sh Aijaz Ahmad -JKAS, DySP Hqrs Baramulla, DySP DAR DPL Baramulla, IC PCR Baramulla and other Civil Police & CRPF Officers/Officials have participated in the ceremony and laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains & paid rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Jammu and Kashmir UT Foundation Day: Celebrating Unity and Diversity.

The Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with the District Administration, Samba and Government Polytechnic College Jammu, orchestrated an extraordinary celebration to mark the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Foundation Day. This remarkable event artfully blended adventure and cultural festivities, showcasing the region's rich heritage and the spirit of unity.

The centerpiece of the celebration was a one-day trekking expedition, commencing from the tranquil Tourist village Mohargarh and culminating at the picturesque Mansar Lake. About 70 enthusiastic trekkers, including students and faculty members from diverse disciplines at the Polytechnic College, embarked on this thrilling journey.

The flag-off ceremony, held at the prestigious Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, was graced by the presence of Ms. Sunaina Mehta Sharma(JKAS)Joint Director Tourism Jammu and the Principal of Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk, Jammu. Also in attendance were faculty members of the Government Polytechnic College, as well as officers and officials of the Department.

In her address, Ms. Sharma emphasized the Directorate of Tourism Jammu's commitment to promoting adventure tourism in the region, guided by the able leadership of Secretary Tourism, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid (IAS), and Director Tourism, Sh. Vivekanand Rai (IRS). She highlighted the enduring significance of this trek, a tradition championed by the department for several years. The goal is to transform Mansar and its surroundings into a winter hub for soft adventure activities, including trekking, adventure camps, and hiking.

Ms. Sharma further accentuated the importance of proper trekking gear and the necessity of maintaining cleanliness in these areas. This initiative seeks to offer visitors a luxurious and adventurous experience by revealing the numerous trekking routes in Mansar.

The trek wove its way through the captivating Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary, offering trekkers picturesque views of the surrounding hills. Beginning at Mahoregarh Fort, with its historical roots as an Afghan outpost, the trail enthralled participants with an adventurous ascent. Reaching the summit, trekkers were rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Mansar Lake, adding immeasurable delight to their journey.

Sh.Arun Bangotra,Principal Polytechnic College, shared his personal experiences, underscoring how such trails offer urban dwellers the unique chance to reconnect with nature. He lauded the collaborative efforts of the Tourism Department and District Administration Samba, in making this event possible.

The trekkers were warmly welcomed at Nud, Samba, by a distinguished reception party, including Sh. Keshav Sharma, DDC Chairman of Samba, Sh. Abhishek Sharma(IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Samba, Sh. Benam Tosh(JKPS),Senior Superintendent of Police in Samba, along with other esteemed officers.

The Deputy Commissioner, in his address, underscored the significance of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Foundation Day. He added that this occasion serves as a tribute to the region's rich culture, heritage and the contributions of its people.

Additionally, this day aligns with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's Iron Man. It stands as a symbol of unity, emphasizing the shared principles that bind the diverse regions of India.

The festivities continued at historic Samba fort with an engaging cultural program, featuring Nukkad Natak, an open mic session, a live painting competition, a photo exhibition and departmental stalls, collectively creating an immersive and memorable celebration for the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Foundation Day.

This event is a testament to the successful blending of adventure and culture, underscoring the rich heritage of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. It stands as a symbol of unity and the celebration of the region's extraordinary diversity.

A Golden Jubilee celebration of alumini of 1973 MBBS batch from Government Medical College Jammu was observed as a 2 day celebration on the 28th and 29th of October 2023. This batch of over 100 students was the first to join at GMC Jammu where the classes were held in a make shift building at Bakshi Nagar and clinics at SMGS hospital with top notch faculty from reputed colleges of the country as their teachers. Around 50 Doctors of the same batch from other states and countries reunited on these two days with activities and celebrations at various resorts and hotels.The highlight of these two days was a Re visit to the SMGS hospital followed by visiting the girls and boys hostels and finally the Government Medical College campus. On behalf of Principal and Dean GMC Jammu Dr. Ashutosh Gupta they were given a very warm and traditional welcome with Tika and flowers and taken around to all the favourite and familiar haunts at SMGS hospital by Dr. Ghanshyam Saini HOD Pediatrics, Dr.Rachna Sabharwal HOD Biochemistry, Dr. Sanjeev Dhingra Professor Pediatrics, Dr. Dara Singh Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital, Dr. Rehana DMS Psychiatry Hospital and Dr Rakesh DMS SMGS Hospital. Principal and Dean Dr. Ashutosh Gupta accorded a very warm welcome and interacted with the Alumini whole heartedly. On behalf of Principal and Dean GMC Jammu, a PowerPoint presentation was given by Dr. Rachna Sabharwal HOD Biochemistry about how GMC Jammu has steadily grown over five decades since its inception and highlighted the academic achievements of the institution. Alumini batch thanked Principal and Dean GMC Jammu Dr.Ashutosh Gupta for arranging a grand reception and extending great hospitality. Alumini batch said that it was a true home coming for this batch of 1973 gemcolions of GMC Jammu.

The night was a tapestry of entertainment, featuring live music, choreographed dance performances, a fashion show ramp walk, and an enchanting performance by the talented Juhi Singh. Our very own students showcased their dedication and talent with a stunning dandiya dance performance that wowed the audience.

Our very own RJ Shwetima was also a part of our dandiya night. She added more colours of entertainment to the show and made our audience enjoy the night.

A number of prominent influencers of Jammu city were also invited and added more brightness to the night. The school experienced a large crowd of jammuites,nearly in hundreds to experience the enjoyment of doing dandiya and garba.

Adding an element of anticipation and excitement, the event featured a bumper prize that left the audience eagerly awaiting the lucky winner's announcement. The night was a colorful, entertaining, and culturally rich experience that will be cherished by all who attended.

The entire community was invited to join Birla Open Minds International School, Jammu, for a night that celebrated the spirit of Navratri, unity, and diversity. The event was a delightful blend of culture and tradition, leaving attendees with beautiful memories and cherished moments.
