Jammu’s Pride Col. Ranveer Singh Jamwal Leads Another Historic Mountaineering Feat in Arunachal Pradesh
Third Successful Expedition in Gorichen Region; Strengthens India’s Presence in Eastern Himalayas
Jammu:
In yet another moment of pride for Jammu and the entire nation, Col. Ranveer Singh Jamwal, one of India’s most decorated mountaineers and the current Director of the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), has successfully led a 38-member team to summit two formidable peaks in Arunachal Pradesh — Mt. Gorichen Main (6488 meters) and Mt. Gorichen East (6222 meters).
Hailing from Badhori village in Samba district, Col. Jamwal has once again shown that determination, discipline, and daring spirit can take a soldier from the plains of Jammu to the most challenging summits in the world.
This is the third consecutive year that Col. Jamwal has led expeditions in the little-known but extremely dangerous Gorichen region of the Eastern Himalayas:
• In 2023, he led the successful ascent of Mt. Gorichen (6488m)
• In 2024, he led a historic climb of Gorichen West (6383m) , an unclimbed and highly technical peak
• In 2025, he returned to Summit Mt. Gorichen East (6222m), showcasing extraordinary consistency and leadership
This year’s expedition was marked by dangerous rockfall zones, sub-zero temperatures, and high-altitude challenges — yet, under Col. Jamwal’s leadership, the team pushed through with courage and discipline.
“Jammu has always given the country bravehearts , in uniform and in spirit. My roots keep me grounded, and my land gives me the strength to aim higher each time,” said Col. Jamwal.
