Welcome to Episode 2 of "Kargil ke Veer", a stirring documentary series that pays tribute to the unmatched courage of India’s bravehearts who stood tall during the 1999 Kargil War.
In this episode, we bring to you the incredible story of Rifleman Sansar Singh, a valiant soldier of 12 JAKLI, hailing from Gigrial village, Tehsil Khour, Jammu. Wounded during action in Operation Vijay on 9th June 1999, Rifleman Singh fought fearlessly in the treacherous terrains of Batalik Sector, Ladakh, during the capture of Point 5203.
But this story is not of martyrdom—this is a story of unyielding spirit and survival. A hero who, despite grave injuries in the battlefield, carries the scars of war as badges of honor. Having also served in OP Meghdoot and OP Rakshak, Sansar Singh ji stands as a living embodiment of bravery, resilience, and service.
Decorated with the High Altitude Medal and the Siachen Glacier Medal, his inspiring journey reflects the enduring sacrifices not only of soldiers but also their families, who silently fight their own battles alongside them.
"शहीदों की चिताओं पर लगेंगे हर बरस मेले, वतन पर मिटने वालों का यही बाकी निशां होगा"
These lines remind us of the martyrs, but this episode reminds us of the living heroes too—who fought the same war, bore the same pain, and now continue to inspire generations through their undying patriotism.
