Municipal Council Poonch organises felicitation ceremony & Blood Donation Camp under Sewa Parv

POONCH, OCTOBER 01: The Municipal Council Poonch under the ongoing Sewa Parv initiative organised a grand Felicitation Ceremony and a Blood Donation Camp to honor contributions towards cleanliness, community service and social responsibility.

The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Sharma as the Chief Guest, Addl. District Development Commissioner, Pankaj Magotra as the Guest of Honour and Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Sayeed as the Special Guest.

Prominent personalities including Ex-ACR Zafar Banday, Chairman Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club Tariq Khan, Ex-Councillor Imtiaz Salaria, President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Master Khetar Pal, Advocate Zaman, Advocate Iftikhar Bazmi, Master Kartar Chand & team and several other members of civil society and the Bar also attended the program.

During the felicitation ceremony, 10 sanitation workers of the Municipal Council, 8 students as Swachhta Ambassadors and representatives of SDRF were honored for their commendable efforts in community service and cleanliness drives.

Delivering the welcome address, CEO MC Poonch, Khalil A. Banday, highlighted the activities undertaken by the Municipal Council during Sewa Parv. He also presented plant bouquets to the dignitaries as a token of love and a gesture to promote the vision of a Green Poonch.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Poonch, Ashok Sharma lauded the Municipal Council for its proactive initiatives and appealed to the people to extend cooperation by segregating waste at the source and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. Mr Haroon Rathore conducted the proceedings of the event.

Later in the day, employees of the Municipal Council Poonch voluntarily donated blood at the District Blood Bank, further contributing to the spirit of service and community welfare.

*Swachhata Hi Seva Hai: ZPHQ Jammu & RPHQ JSK Observe Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan 2025 under Sewa Parv*

In pursuance of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva Hai campaign and to mark the spirit of Sewa Parv, as part of the ongoing Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan 2025, a special cleanliness drive was organised today in the premises of Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Jammu and Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK Range).

2. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of senior officers and staff, led by Sh. Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, accompanied by Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, Deputy Inspector General, JSK Range; Sh. Shamsheer Hussain, SSP, SO to IGP Jammu; Sh Sanjay Sharma, SSP, SO to DIG JSK, and other officers. Personnel from both headquarters joined hands with full commitment and zeal in the collective effort to promote cleanliness and hygiene. Sh. Farooq Qaiser, JKPS, SSP Traffic Jammu and personnel from the Traffic wing also joined later.

3. Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu Zone underlined the importance of cleanliness not only as a civic duty but as a personal and organisational responsibility. He highlighted that “Cleanliness is not just about the removal of dirt, it is about discipline, dignity and respect for the environment we live and work in.” He called upon all police personnel to set an example for society by maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in offices, barracks, and residential areas, making it an integral part of daily life.

4. The IGP also emphasised that such initiatives reflect the values of service, dedication, and responsibility that are at the core of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He exhorted officers and officials to extend the spirit of Swachhata beyond official premises into their communities, thereby inspiring the public to actively contribute towards a cleaner and healthier India.

5. During the drive, officers and officials cleaned the premises of both ZPHQ Jammu and RPHQ JSK, carried out sweeping of pathways, proper waste disposal, removal of plastic and non-biodegradable items, and general upkeep of the surroundings. The collective participation created a sense of unity and shared responsibility, aligning with the motto of “Clean Bharat, Healthy Bharat.”

6. The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment of Jammu Zone Police to continue supporting and implementing the vision of the Swachh Bharat Mission, ensuring that cleanliness remains an enduring habit and not just a symbolic activity.

Cyber Police Station Poonch Recovers ₹3.83 Lakh in Cyber Fraud Case

Poonch, September 30, 2025:
Cyber Police Station Poonch has achieved a major breakthrough by recovering ₹3,83,000 in a cyber fraud case, where a complainant had been duped of ₹7,00,000 by fraudsters.

The victim had approached Cyber Police Station Poonch with a complaint after being deceived by unknown cyber criminals. Acting promptly, the Cyber Police team initiated technical investigations, traced the fraudulent transactions, and coordinated with concerned banks and financial institutions. As a result of timely efforts, an amount of ₹3.83 lakh was successfully secured, recovered and credited back to the complainant’s account.

The complainant expressed gratitude to District Police Poonch for their swift action and relentless follow-up in recovering a substantial portion of the defrauded money.

SSP Poonch, Sh. Shafket Hussain, JKPS, appreciated the dedicated work of the Cyber Police team and reaffirmed the commitment of District Police Poonch to protect citizens from cyber frauds. He also appealed to the public to exercise caution while conducting online financial transactions, avoid sharing OTPs or banking credentials, and to promptly report incidents of cybercrime through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) or the helpline number 1930.

District Police Poonch assures the community of its continued efforts in combating the rising challenge of cybercrime and safeguarding the interests of the people.

Rajouri Police Foil Three Bovine Smuggling Attempts, Rescue 26 Animals, 04 Arrested and Three Vehicles Seized in Chingus Area*

Rajouri Police have foiled three separate attempts of illegal transportation of bovine animals in the Chingus area. In the swift operations, 26 bovine animals were rescued, 04 smugglers were arrested and three vehicles were seized.

1. *Sasalkote Area*

A police party of Police Post Chingus intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration No. JK11B-4669 found illegally transporting 11 bovine animals towards Srinagar.

The driver *Balbir Kumar S/O Mohinder Paul R/O Chidki and his associate Niaz Ahmed S/O Mohd Rashid R/O Nowshera* were arrested.

In this regard a case FIR No. 492/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri.

2. *Keri Chingus Area*

During patrolling duty a naka was laid at Keri road by the police party of PP Chingus. Two Tata Mobiles bearing registration numbers (1) JK11B-4673 (2) JK11E-0598 were intercepted while illegally transporting 15 bovine animals without valid permission.

The smugglers *Ranjot Singh S/O Didar Singh R/O Narian and Mukhtiar Ali S/O Mohd Sharief R/O Anyatpura* were arrested.

The animals were rescued and vehicles seized. In this regard a case FIR No. 493/2025 and 494/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act were registered at Police Station Rajouri. In all three cases the bovine animals were rescued, vehicles involved seized and further investigation is underway.

1st Edition of J&K Police Martyrs Hockey Tournament Concludes at Poonch

Poonch, September 30, 2025:
The 1st Edition of J&K Police Martyrs Hockey Tournament, organised by District Police Poonch in collaboration with the Hockey Association Poonch, concluded today at the Hockey Ground Poonch amid enthusiastic participation and patriotic fervour. The tournament was dedicated to the supreme sacrifices of Jammu & Kashmir Police martyrs and aimed to promote sports, discipline, and community engagement among the youth of the district.

Over the course of the tournament, several local clubs and school teams from across Poonch competed in the true spirit of sportsmanship and healthy rivalry. The grand finale, played today, witnessed an intense and entertaining contest that kept spectators on edge until the final whistle. Poonch Panthers emerged victorious, defeating Poonch Legends in a thrilling final match.

The concluding ceremony was graced by Sh. Ashok Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Deputy Commissioner Poonch, as the Chief Guest, and Sh. Pankaj Mangotra (JKAS), Additional District Development Commissioner, Poonch, as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries lauded the initiative of District Police Poonch for organising the tournament in memory of the martyrs and urged the youth to channel their energy into constructive and sporting activities. Senior police officers and local dignitaries were also present to witness the finale.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted that such sporting events not only honour the memory of brave martyrs but also strengthen community-police relations and provide positive avenues for young people. He assured full administrative support for similar initiatives in the future.

Winners and runners-up were felicitated on the podium with cash rewards, trophies, medals, and certificates amid loud applause from the audience.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by SSP Poonch, Sh. Shafket Hussain, JKPS. District Police Poonch reiterated its commitment to continue organising community-centric sporting events that foster fitness, teamwork, and remembrance of the martyrs of J&K Police.
