A decision that changed the course of Jammu & Kashmir. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

On 5 August 2019, the Government of India revoked the special status of Jammu & Kashmir under Article 370 and Article 35A, bringing the region fully under the Indian Constitution and reorganising the former state into two Union Territories.

Supporters of the move describe it as the fulfilment of the vision of "One Nation, One Constitution, One Flag," arguing that it has accelerated development, improved infrastructure, strengthened governance, boosted tourism, and opened new opportunities for investment and employment.

Over the past few years, the government has highlighted record tourist arrivals, expanded road and rail connectivity, improved public services, and increased private sector participation as indicators of the region's transformation.

The constitutional change remains one of the most significant decisions in independent India's history and continues to shape discussions on governance, national integration, and the future of Jammu & Kashmir.

The 28-year-old Indian Army athlete and reigning Asian champion in the 5,000m and 10,000m has scripted history by becoming the first Indian ever to win a medal in the men's 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games.

Battling relentless rain and a slippery track in Glasgow, Gulveer stayed with the leading pack before producing a stunning finish to claim a historic silver medal in 27:49.78.

Already a 2022 Asian Games bronze medallist, 2025 Asian Championships double gold medallist, and the first Indian to run a sub-60-minute half marathon, Gulveer has now added another landmark achievement to his growing legacy, proving that Indian long-distance running is ready to compete with the world's best.

The Central Government has approved the Reserve Bank of India's proposal to introduce โ‚น10 and โ‚น20 polymer banknotes for field trials.

The RBI plans to print 1 billion polymer notes of each denomination to assess their durability, performance and suitability under Indian conditions.

Officials have clarified that there is no plan to replace all existing paper currency, and the trial is aimed at evaluating whether polymer notes can help reduce wear and tear while increasing the lifespan of frequently used banknotes.

Around 60 metric tonnes of waste was left behind at and around Jantar Mantar after the protest concluded, prompting the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to launch a large-scale overnight clean-up operation.

More than 100 sanitation workers, along with heavy vehicles, excavators, road sweepers and pressure jetting machines, were deployed to clear garbage, wash roads, repaint graffiti-covered walls and restore public spaces.

According to NDMC officials, the clean-up covered Jantar Mantar and nearby areas, including Tolstoy Marg, Sansad Marg, Jai Singh Marg and Connaught Place.

The incident has sparked conversations on civic responsibility and the importance of keeping public spaces clean, regardless of the cause being supported.

Public demonstrations are a democratic right, but maintaining cleanliness and protecting shared spaces remains a collective responsibility.
