A Father's day message from my son

Dear Dad,

We think about the foreign land as this exquisite place with big shining buildings and cobblestone roads that make one forget everything, but the truth is a bit different. It’s the souls around and inside one another that create hope, and hope is a precious thing. It’s always the people holding you from miles away, telling you, guiding you, asking you if you had food that gives you the power to work harder. It’s ironic, with all the freedom. Sometimes, you wish to be home.

How tired was Icarus while flying so close to the sun, away from his father, that he burned? I am sure if Daedalus were you, you would have flown closer to me and would never have let anything happen to me.

2011 ki Shimla trip yaad hai Dad, I wanted to go river rafting with everyone and you said, “No” and I was pi**ed, threw a bit of a tantrum. Looking back, now putting myself in your shoes, it makes sense, everything makes sense. I know and I have known you for long enough to see. Your fears, but that’s not the only thing that makes you. What makes you is your story, your hard work, your perseverance through time, and the love that you have showered over me, mom, and sis. They are not in vain. I don’t know if you remember this, but you once told mom “Mit’s future is bright” and I trust those words and hold them close to me, Dad. Your words's more than anyone's are my shield against the world. The baton that I hold close.

Father’s day is just another day, I, just like you don’t use words to appreciate, but today, more than other days, you should know. You deserve it.

That you exist, I exist, and I am so proud to be your son, and that you are my dad.

Thank you for being you. You are perfect in every way.
