A non-Manipuri truck driver transporting essential goods from Imphal to Ukhrul under security es**rt was brutally killed this afternoon near the TM Kasom area in an attack widely attributed to armed Kuki militants, yet some reports continue to dilute the truth by calling them “suspected Kuki militants.” This kind of cautious and evasive language in the face of clear violence against civilians is unacceptable and undermines the seriousness of the crime. Such acts have crossed all limits, and the repeated targeting of innocent lives demands accountability and honesty. It is time for both local and national media to stop hiding behind ambiguity and report facts with clarity and responsibility—there is no justification for softening the reality of such brutal incidents.

From the small state of Manipur in northeast India, Chungreng Koren made a strong statement in Season 5 of the Road to UFC, advancing to the semi-finals with a gritty second-round submission win over Japan’s Ryuho Miyaguchi. Entering on short notice, Koren faced setbacks including missing weight and forfeiting part of his purse for a catchweight bout, but after a competitive start and early pressure from Miyaguchi in Round 2, he turned the fight around with a powerful left hand that dropped his opponent and led to a memorable finish.

Today, Philem Rohan Singh addressed all indigenous people gathered here. He appealed to everyone to stand united in concern for the six Naga individuals who were reportedly kidnapped, expressing the deep pain and solidarity felt for them.

He also stated that the police officers present are only performing their duties based on orders from higher authorities, and they should not be blamed individually, as they are not decision-makers but representatives of the state.

He further criticized the leadership at the national level, mentioning that decisions come from Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He referred to slogans raised during the gathering and called for people to remember this moment during the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2027.

He urged citizens, especially mothers and brothers, to come forward again during the election period and express their views in the same way. Finally, he appealed to everyone to be very careful and thoughtful when casting their votes and choosing their leaders.

On May 7, 2026, an Indian Central Security Force personnel shared a ground report from Choro village following the deadly attacks carried out on the three Naga villages of Choro, Wanglee, and Namlee, allegedly by Myanmar-based People’s Defence Force (PDF)-backed Kuki National Army (Burma). The report described scenes of widespread destruction, panic, and displacement, with several homes damaged and villagers forced to flee to safer locations amid heavy gunfire and tension along the border region. Security personnel stated that the attacks created fear among the local Naga population, while forces on the ground continued search and area domination operations to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of civilians. The incident has further intensified concerns over cross-border insurgent activities and the growing instability in the Indo-Myanmar frontier areas.
