The Silk Route Car Rally Reaches Gnathang Valley and Zuluk

Pakyong, December 12 (IPR): The “Sikkim – the Silk Route Drive,” held under the theme Reviving the Ancient Route, continues to make significant progress as it traces the historic pathways that once connected traders, cultures, and civilizations. Featuring 17 high-performance supercars, the rally reached Gnathang Valley and Zuluk, marking a major milestone in its journey through the legendary Silk Route and aiming at promoting tourism, celebrating heritage, and showcasing the enchanting landscapes of East Sikkim.

Overcoming challenging terrain, steep ascents, and rapidly changing weather, the drivers showcased exceptional endurance and skill. The event also highlights the capabilities of modern performance vehicles in high-altitude environments.

Participants were welcomed by Army personnel and local representatives stationed in the area. Brief interactions, photography sessions, and documentation of the surrounding landscape added to the significance of the halt. The visit also aimed at fostering awareness about the region’s ecological and strategic importance.

The successful journey of day two of the Silk Route Car Rally marks a significant achievement in the event’s mission of celebrating heritage, promoting tourism, and showcasing the natural grandeur of Sikkim. As the convoy continues to advance along the ancient route, it carries with it the spirit of adventure, cultural revival, and pride in the region’s unique history.

Gayzing Police crack down on drug peddling, seize brown sugar.

On 10.12.2025, acting upon a credible source information, one Tek Bdr Chettri , 37 years, s/o Dhal Bdr. Chettri of Middle Gyalshing, A/P Arigaon, Gyalshing was apprehended with his taxi vehicle B/R No. SK02T1229 (Alto) near BAC Fatak, Gyalshing. During search, 96 nos pouches of brown sugar weighing 35.65 grams was recovered from his taxi vehicle and one pouche of brown sugar weighing 0.34 gram was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, Gyalshing PS case FIR No. 28/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered against above peddler cm consumer.

In response to multiple recent complaints regarding the theft of LPG cylinders from various localities under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, a prompt and systematic investigation was initiated by the Sadar PS team.

Acting swiftly on the reports, the Sadar Police Station registered a formal theft case and undertook intensive enquiry efforts. During the course of the investigation, two suspects — Rohit Gurung and Rakesh Gurung — were identified as being involved in the series of thefts. Both individuals were subsequently apprehended.

Upon interrogation and verification, the Sadar PS team successfully recovered several stolen LPG cylinders along with other stolen household articles from their possession and from locations identified through sustained enquiry. The above named accused have been forwarded to Rongyek State prison.
