“Relief in Rabongla: All Five Missing Teens Rescued After 48-Hour Ordeal in Maenam Sanctuary”

Rabongla, December 12, 2025:
What began as a joyful one-day adventure turned into a two-day search nightmare when five teenagers from Namchi went missing inside the dense and mist-covered Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary. Today, the tension finally lifted as Sikkim Police confirmed that all five youths have been found safe, bringing a wave of relief across the state.

The group of nine boys had entered the sanctuary through the Rabong Checkpost on December 9. While four returned the next morning, the remaining five had vanished without a trace, sparking immediate alarm among families and authorities.

What followed was one of the most extensive search operations in recent months. Police, Forest Department teams, local volunteers, and trained rescue units scoured steep ridges, thick forests, and slippery trails—areas known for limited visibility and difficult terrain. The operation continued day and night, powered by urgency and community support.

After nearly 48 hours of intense search efforts, the missing teenagers were finally located. Early reports suggest they had lost their way deep inside the sanctuary but managed to stay together until help arrived.

Cheers, tears, and collective sighs of relief echoed across Rabongla and Namchi as news of their rescue spread. Authorities have praised the teamwork and swift coordination that made the rescue possible.

A potentially tragic incident has turned into a story of hope, resilience, and timely action.

Super Car Rally Enters Sikkim for Second Leg

Gangtok, December 12 (IPR): The second leg of the Super Car Rally, being held from December 11 to 15, 2025 in collaboration with the Government of Sikkim and the Black Cat Division under the aegis of the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army, began from Siliguri in West Bengal and is now en route to enter Sikkim.

As the convoy advanced along NH-10, the roar of high-end supercars reverberated through the valley, creating an unmistakable sense of excitement along the route. The powerful accelerations, precision handling, and unmistakable engine notes cutting through the mountain air added a dynamic burst of energy to the otherwise challenging terrain. Spectators and bystanders along the highway witnessed an impressive display of speed, control, and sheer automotive performance as the vehicles navigated the winding stretches of the corridor.

During this stretch, the convoy passed through several areas affected by the recent GLOF, beginning from Birik Dara. The route highlighted the region’s demanding topography and the ongoing recovery efforts across the impacted zones. Participants observed the changing landscape, restoration work, and the resilience of local communities as they moved through the affected areas.

To ensure the smooth and safe movement of vehicles during the event, NHIDCL undertook essential road restoration and strengthening activities along NH-10. Approximately 350 metres of road at the 27th–28th Mile stretch, previously in earthen condition, was upgraded within three days.

At KM 2 (Kalijhora), NHIDCL is carrying out slope protection works, including SDA anchor bars with pressure grouting, HT wire mesh installation, drainage channelling, and supporting structures such as breast walls, RCC walls, and gabion walls to keep the highway stable and operational.

Furthermore, the convoy has crossed the Teesta River and is en route to Rangpo, where the official flag-off for the Sikkim leg of the rally will take place.
