Chief Minister PS Tamang Shares:

Delighted to be a part of the 2nd Aama Samman Diwas and 9th Jan Unmukti Diwas in Rangpo.

Today marks a deeply significant and historic occasion for the SKM party and for me personally, as we dedicate this day to our beloved Aamas of Sikkim, whose strength, resilience, and unconditional love form the foundation of our society. The faith and trust that the people have placed in us by bringing us into government continue to inspire and guide our efforts, and we have remained steadfast in our commitment to the welfare, dignity, and empowerment of mothers across the state.

Since last year, this special day has been devoted to honouring our Aamas, and on this occasion, I remembered with profound gratitude those mothers who stood by us with their blessings and support during our most difficult times. It gave me immense satisfaction to share that 10 mothers from each constituency were provided with cheques under the Aama Shashaktikaran Yojana, while adding that the remaining beneficiaries will receive them through their MLAs at their respective BAC offices within this month, ensuring that no deserving mother is left behind.

Our governance has always been guided by a people-centric approach, rooted in sincerity and service rather than political motives. Looking ahead, from 2027, I informed that the Aama Shashaktikaran Yojana will be significantly expanded from 32,000 to 50,000 beneficiaries, covering more than 1,500 mothers from each constituency, thereby strengthening our commitment to inclusive growth. On this occasion, I was also pleased to hand over the Aama Samman Puraskar, Pragatisheel Aama Puraskar, and Best Aama Account Holder awards to recognise and celebrate exemplary contributions.

I also shared key highlights of the Budget 2026–27, including impactful initiatives such as Amma Sahayog Yojana, Bahini Yojana, and Mero Rukh Mero Santati. From next year, starting July 1, Aama Poetry Competitions will be organised across schools and colleges under the aegis of the Education Department, fostering respect and appreciation for mothers among the younger generation.

I also acknowledged and congratulated the regularisation of Anganwadi and ASHA workers, whose dedication continues to strengthen grassroots service delivery. Additionally, provisions have been made to extend financial support to 200 Self Help Groups, while initiatives such as sabbatical leave, Shravan Kumar Puraskar, and Aama Ko Goad in Siliguri for patients were also highlighted as part of our broader vision of social welfare.

These initiatives reflect our commitment to building a Sikkim where every Aama is respected, supported, and empowered. Our Aamas are the strength of our families and the backbone of our society, and we remain committed to honouring their sacrifices and ensuring their dignity and well-being.

On this special occasion, I reaffirm my commitment to continue working towards a Sunaulo Sikkim, Samriddha Sikkim, ani Saamarth Sikkim, where every Aama feels valued, every family feels secure, and no one is left behind.

CM Ps Golay shares..

“Attended the State-Level Tendong Lho Rum Faat 2026, the sacred and culturally significant festival of the Lepcha community, organised jointly by the organising committee and various Lepcha organisations.

Tendong Lho Rum Faat is not merely a festival; it is a celebration of the Lepcha community’s deep bond with nature, culture and Mayel Lyang—the Hidden Paradise. The legend of Mount Tendong reminds us of our responsibility to protect and live in harmony with nature.

On this sacred occasion, I am pleased to announce that Hee-Gnathang Senior Secondary School in Dzongu will be upgraded to a Chief Minister’s Model School from the next academic session. This initiative reflects our Government’s resolve to strengthen quality education and create better learning opportunities for our children in Dzongu.

I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the distinguished personalities of the Lepcha community who were honoured with various awards today in recognition of their invaluable contributions and dedicated service.

As the indigenous people of Sikkim, the Lepcha community holds a unique and cherished place in our state’s history and identity. Their rich language, traditions, folklore, music, art, spiritual beliefs, and deep-rooted reverence for nature have enriched the cultural fabric of Sikkim and continue to inspire generations.

Our Government remains firmly committed to preserving, protecting, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Lepcha community. We will continue to support initiatives that strengthen the Lepcha language, traditions, customs, traditional knowledge, art forms and cultural practices, while creating greater opportunities for younger generations to learn, celebrate and carry this heritage forward.

Honouring our indigenous heritage is not merely about preserving the past; it is about nurturing our identity and ensuring that our diverse traditions remain vibrant and relevant for generations to come. The recognition of these distinguished individuals is therefore a celebration of the community’s collective contribution to Sikkim’s history, culture, environment and social harmony.

Let us embrace progress without forgetting our roots, and modernity without compromising our culture and environment.

May the blessings of Tendong Lho, Mayel Lyang and our revered ancestors always remain with us.”
