Tripura has officially become the third Indian state—after Mizoram and Goa—to be declared fully literate, having surpassed the 95% literacy benchmark set by the Ministry of Education.

The state’s literacy rate now stands at 95.6%. According to Preeti Meena, Director (Adult Education) at the Union Ministry of Education, Tripura joins Mizoram and Goa in achieving this milestone.

As per UNESCO guidelines, any state with a literacy rate above 95% qualifies as fully literate.


মিজোরাম ও গোয়ার পর ত্রিপুরা আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে তৃতীয় ভারতীয় রাজ্য হিসেবে পূর্ণ শিক্ষিত রাজ্য হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে, যা শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় কর্তৃক নির্ধারিত ৯৫% সাক্ষরতার মানদণ্ড অতিক্রম করেছে।

রাজ্যের সাক্ষরতার হার এখন ৯৫.৬%। কেন্দ্রীয় শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের পরিচালক (প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক শিক্ষা) প্রীতি মীনার মতে, এই মাইলফলক অর্জনে ত্রিপুরা মিজোরাম ও গোয়ার সাথে যোগ দিয়েছে।

ইউনেস্কোর নির্দেশিকা অনুসারে, ৯৫% এর বেশি সাক্ষরতার হার সহ যেকোনো রাজ্যই পূর্ণ শিক্ষিত রাজ্য হিসেবে বিবেচিত হবে।

All 12 crew members of the Air India flight AI171, which had departed from Ahmedabad for London’s Gatwick on 12 June, lost their lives after the plane crashed just moments after take-off.

The flight was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, with First Officer Clive Kunder as co-pilot.

Other crew members included Roshni Songhare, Deepak Pathak, Saineeta Chakravarty, Nganthoi Kongbrailatpam Sharma, Shradha Dhavan, Aparna Mahadik, Maithili Patil, Irfan Shaikh, Lamnunthem Singson and Manisha Thapa.

The aircraft was carrying 242 people: 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national and seven Portuguese nationals. Air India confirmed that 241 died in the crash. The lone survivor, a British citizen of Indian origin, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

On 13 June, 2025, 8:36 AM the Ministry of Civil Aviation shared the passenger hotline numbers for India (1800 5691 444) and calls outside India (+91 8062779200).

Air India stands in solidarity with the families of the passengers who tragically lost their lives in the recent accident. Our teams on the ground are doing everything possible to extend care and support during this incredibly difficult time.
As part of our continued efforts, Air India will be providing an interim payment of 125 lakh or approximately 21,000 GBP
each to the families of the deceased and to the survivor, to help address immediate financial needs. This is in addition to the R1 crore or approximately 85,000 GBP
support already announced by Tata Sons.
All of us at Air India are deeply saddened by this loss. We mourn with the families, loved ones, and everyone affected.
