Fine of Rs.88,000 imposed on erring FBOs under FS&SA at Handwara

KUPWARA,SEPTEMBER 25: Additional Deputy Commissioner,(ADC), Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi JKAS who is also Adjudicating officer Handwara today imposed a fine of Rs.88,000 Eighty Eight thousands on various erring Food Business operators ( FBOs) for violations of various provisions of Food Safety and Standard Act (FS&SA) 2006.

The fine was imposed on the erring traders (for miss branded and sub standard food) during the proceeding of cases related to the FS&SA Act 2006 which were listed before the Adjudicating officer.

The Adjudicating officer warned them to abide by the legal regulations adding that non-compliance of Food safety and standards Act-2006 and rules there under by the food business operators will be dealt with more strictness in coming time.

*Civil Society Forum Delegation Visits Fruit Growers’ Association in Handwara, Expresses Solidarity Amid Losses*

Handwara, Sept 23: A delegation from the Civil Society Forum today visited the Office of the President of the Fruit Growers and Dealers Association Handwara to express sympathy and solidarity with fruit growers and merchants who have suffered heavy losses due to the closure of the highway and non-availability of transport facilities.

The delegation was led by Chairman Mr. Liyaqat Ali Khan, accompanied by several prominent members including Mr. Bilal Ahmad Zargar, District General Secretary of the Chemists and Distributors Association; Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Sofi, former President of the Traders Federation Handwara; Mr. Mudasir Ahmad Tantray, President of the All India People’s National Party; and Mr. Mohammad Ramzan Kar, social activist.

During the meeting, the Fruit Growers’ Association highlighted the immense challenges faced by the sector, stressing that perishable fruit consignments worth lakhs of rupees remain stranded without proper transportation. They warned that the crisis could devastate the horticultural economy, which sustains thousands of families across the district.

The Civil Society Forum members expressed deep concern and assured the growers of their full support. They urged the government to take immediate steps to restore smooth highway movement and provide relief to safeguard the livelihood of fruit growers and dealers.

*Rajwar Welcomes Lignite Project, A Boost For Development And Employment In Kupwara.*

Handwara September 22: Social and political activist Javid Mir from North Kashmir’s Rajwar Handwara has warmly welcomed the launch of the Lignite Project at Nichama Rajwar, calling it a milestone for the region’s development.

Mir said the project will not only help in the overall progress of Rajwar and its adjoining areas, but also create employment opportunities for the local youth of Kupwara, thereby giving a much-needed push to the local economy.

He further appreciated the hard work and commitment of J&K People’s Conference (JKPC) President and MLA Handwara, Mr. Sajad Gani Lone, for making this project a reality.

Local residents have also expressed hope that this initiative will open new avenues of growth and transform Rajwar into an economic hub in North Kashmir.
