Today, Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Suvendu Adhikari Ji visited Kurseong on his first official visit to the Darjeeling Hills after assuming office.
Addressing a large public gathering at Monteviot Ground Hon'ble Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive roadmap aimed at addressing long-pending regional challenges and unlocking new opportunities for the growth of our region. He also unveiled concrete plans to improve infrastructure, livelihoods, healthcare, education, and public services in our region.
He reiterated the commitment to establish a Medical College in Kalimpong, with land already identified at Dungra, while also strengthening healthcare facilities across Kurseong, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong region.
The Chief Minister announced enhanced investments in education and sports infrastructure, including improved schools, digital classrooms, girls’ hostels, and facilities to nurture local talent.
Highlighting employment generation and rural development as a priority, CM Adhikari ji announced that the Viksit Bharat Rural Employment Scheme (G-RAM G) will be launched from July 1, 2026, providing 125 days of wage employment annually through rural development projects.
He also outlined key development priorities including improved road connectivity, disaster mitigation and management, tourism promotion, disaster preparedness, skill development, women’s empowerment, and youth-focused initiatives.
Sh. Suvendu Adhikari ji also announced the recruitment of over 1000 Gorkha youths in Eastern Frontier Rifles and West Bengal Police, thus ensuring EFR revival.
Under the TMC Govt, implementation of Pradhan Mantri Chai Shramik Protsahan Yojana initiated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji had been stalled. Today Hon'ble CM assured that the BJP government will use the PMCSPY funds to revive the tea industry, including the 25 tea gardens in the region that have been shut down.
Honouring those activists who had been martyred as a result of brutality under TMC Government, Hon'ble Chief Minister Suvbendu ji said that BJP Government will give employment to one family member of each martyr family and give Rs 5 lakh compensation to them.
The Chief Minister further assured close coordination with Central Government to ensure rapid implementation of development projects for our region. He assured that his government will work to ensuring that the hills receive their due share of development, and fulfilment of their aspirations.
