দার্জিলিং-এর নামের উৎপত্তি দর্জে লিং (Dorje Ling) শব্দ থেকে—
যার অর্থ “বজ্রের ভূমি” বা “Thunderbolt Land”। ⚡⛰️

অনেক বছর আগে এই অঞ্চলটা ছিল লেপচা আদিবাসীদের বাসস্থান।
তারপর ১৮শ শতকে গোরখারা এখানে শাসন কোরে।
কিন্তু ব্রিটিশরা যখন বাংলায় ক্ষমতায় আসে,
তারা পাহাড়ি হাওয়া আর সুন্দর আবহাওয়া দেখে
এখানে তৈরি করে একটি হিল স্টেশন —
বিশ্রামের জায়গা এবং সৈন্যদের ছাউনি। 🇬🇧❄️

এরপর ধীরে ধীরে চা বাগানের জন্ম —
আর সেখান থেকেই শুরু দার্জিলিং-এর
