71st Death Anniversary of Khorsing Terang Observed in Diphu

Diphu, Karbi Anglong, November 28, 2025:
The 71st death anniversary of Khorsing Terang, the first Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the then Mikir Hills District Council—now known as the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)—was solemnly observed today at the Khorsing Terang Memorial Park (New), located near the CEM’s Bungalow in Diphu.

The commemorative programme paid tribute to the visionary leader who played a pivotal role in shaping the administrative foundation of the district council during its formative years. Various officials, dignitaries, community members, and admirers of the late leader gathered to offer floral tributes and recall his contributions to the socio-political development of the region.

Speakers at the event highlighted Khorsing Terang’s dedication, leadership, and long-standing impact on the Karbi community. They emphasized the importance of preserving his ideals and continuing his mission for the upliftment of the people of Karbi Anglong.

Distribution Program of 'Niyot Moina 2.0 Checks Organized in Diphu

Diphu, October 27, 2025:
Under the initiative of the Department of Higher and Secondary Education, Government of Assam, a check distribution program under the 'Niyot Moina 2.0' scheme was organized today at Sem Birendra Town Hall in Diphu. Under this scheme, financial assistance ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 is provided to students of the 11th grade.

This Niyot Moina scheme has been launched under the initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, aiming to encourage students to pursue higher education and reduce school dropout rates.

Richard Tokbiye, Executive Member for Education of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, participated as the chief guest in the program organized in Diphu. In his speech, he stated that the Chief Minister's initiative has created a new direction in the education sector and that many girl students in the state will benefit from this scheme.

Through the 'Niyot Moina 2.0 scheme, it is expected that nearly 1 million students across Assam will benefit.

Over 600 people joined the BJP in Karbi Anglong

A major joining ceremony of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was held today at the Karbi Rongpi Tonghang Playground in Tekelangjun, Karbi Anglong. The event was organized by the 14th Korkanthi Mandal Committee and started at 12 noon.

In this event, 600 members from APHLC and Congress joined the BJP.

The program was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of KAAC, and the present KAAC Chairman Shri Raju Tiso, along with EMs, MACs, chairpersons, Team Karbi Anglong, and numerous BJP workers.

This joining program further strengthened public support and trust for the BJP across the district, once again showcasing the developmental initiatives being carried out under the leadership of Dr. Tuliram Ronghang.

Over 1000 People Join BJP at Diring, Duarbagori Mandal Mass Joining Program

A massive Mass Joining Program was held today under the banner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Mohen Engti Memorial Playground, Diring, organized by the No. 26 Duarbagori MAC Constituency and Duarbagori Mandal, under 109 Howraghat (ST) LAC.

In this grand event, more than 1,000 people from various political parties, including the Congress, APHLC, and others, formally joined the BJP, marking a significant political shift in the region.

The program was led by KAAC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, who welcomed the new members into the BJP family. The event was also attended by local EM Shri Richard Tokbi, along with several EMs, MACs, Chairmen, and party leaders.
