MP Haji Hanifa Reaches Out to People During Sankoo Visit – Day Four Highlights Grassroots Priorities

Kargil, July 16, 2025 – Continuing his extensive public outreach campaign across Kargil, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Haji Hanifa Jan toured several key villages of the Sankoo zone on the fourth day of his visit. He was accompanied by Area Councillor Syed Ahmed Rizvi, Councillor Umba Ghulam Haider, NC Vice President Syed Abass, and senior government officials.

The tour commenced with MP Hanifa Jan, accompanied by Councillor Syed Ahmad Rizvi, visiting the Astana of Aga Haider Razvi at Kusar, where they offered Fatiha for his eternal peace.

The MP visited villages including Nangma Kusar, Khala Marpo, Chumikchan, Thangdumbur, Stakpa and Umba, and interacted with locals to hear their concerns first-hand. During the tour, he also held meetings with religious representatives at Anjuman Sahib Zaman and Maktab-e-Tableeghat Imam Raza. The public welcomed the MP warmly and expressed their continued support, to which the MP responded with gratitude and a renewed promise to work tirelessly for inclusive development.

During the interactions, people raised several important demands such as the construction of the Umbala Tunnel, improved road connectivity between Umba and Drass, upgradation of local schools, establishment of a Degree College and CHC in Sankoo, and completion of water supply projects under JJM. The locals also highlighted the need for a flood protection wall in Stakpa, a bridge at Yakza, irrigation support through solar-powered lift systems, and promotion of women-led initiatives like milk packaging.

Addressing the gathering, MP Haji Hanifa stated that an Engineering College has already been announced for Kurbuthang and a Medical College is being established in Leh. He assured that priority will be given to critical projects like solar lift irrigation and rural road works under PMGSY and CSS. The MP committed to personally following up on key demands and announced that a sports practice pitch will soon be provided for local youth.

Highlighting tourism as a potential growth area, MP Hanifa encouraged community-based planning in adventure and border tourism. He also shared that the Suru Festival, scheduled in the coming days, will serve as a platform to promote the cultural richness of the region and boost the local economy.

The tour reflects MP Haji Hanifa’s continued efforts to stay connected with the people, listen to their needs, and work towards practical and impactful solutions across all sectors.
