Second Balti Cultural Confluence Showcases Rich Heritage and Linguistic Legacy in Kargil

In Ladakh, the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation (HCHF), in collaboration with the Association of Baltis in Himalayan Ladakh and Territories of Indus (ABHLTI), organized the Second Confluence of Balti Culture in Kargil at TFC Kargil.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from scholars, poets, writers, and cultural enthusiasts from Ladakh, Jammu, Uttarakhand, and Baltistan, in hybrid mode, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to preserving its heritage.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, was the Chief Guest on thisnoccasikn.

Dr. Akhoon lauded the organizers for their dedication toward promoting Balti language and traditions. He stressed the need to introduce native languages in schools and assured full support from LAHDC Kargil for such cultural initiatives.

Dr. Sonam Wangchok, Founder of HCHF, said the Balti Confluence aims to connect Balti communities across India and beyond to strengthen efforts in preserving Balti language, literature, and cultural heritage.

The event included paper presentations by scholars and researchers on Balti history, culture, and literature, followed by a Mushaira celebrating Balti poetry. The confluence concluded with soulful musical performances by popular Balti singer Sadiq Ali Ashoor.

A Swift Hand in the Highlands: Soldiers Restore Traffic After Oil Tanker Crash

A fullv loaded oil tanker overturned near Batra Transit Camp in Dras, blocking National Highwav 301, the vita route that connects remote Himalayan settlements.
Within moments, personnel from the Forever in Operations Division, deployed in the area, moved intc action. Their swift and coordinated response enabled the safe recoverv of the overturned vehicle, ensurina the quick restoration of traffic flow through the narrow mountain pass.

The prompt effort not only prevented a potential fuel hazard but also minimized disruption for local communities and military convoys navigating the challenging terrain.

In the rugged heights of Ladakh, where every road is a lifeline. such moments underline the Indian Army's enduring readiness, resilience, and commitment to public safety-even beyond the call of duty.

Indian Army Flags In National Integration Tour Under Operation Sadbhavana.

In a remarkable initiative to foster national integration and provide exposure to young students of Ladakh, the Indian Army flagged in the National Integration Tour under Operation Sadbhavana. The tour was organized for 20 girl students and 3 teachers from PM Shri Government High School Thasgam (Drass), Army Goodwill School Faroona, and PM Shri Government High School Youkma Hanu.

The students undertook an enlightening journey to Delhi, Gaya, and several other historical and culturally significant places across the country. The highlight of the tour was the students’ interaction with the Hon’ble President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where they had the unique opportunity to witness the highest constitutional office of the nation.

During the flag-in ceremony, the Indian Army felicitated the school principals with beautifully framed photographs of the students with the Hon’ble President of India as a token of remembrance and pride.

The objective and motto of the National Integration Tour was to broaden the students’ horizons, inspire them with the greatness of the nation, and instill in them a deep sense of patriotism and unity. The initiative aimed to encourage the youth from remote regions of Ladakh to dream big, explore opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

Addressing the gathering, the Army officials motivated the students to focus on their education, work hard, and serve the country with dedication and honor.

The event concluded with a high tea, where the students shared their heartwarming experiences from the tour and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing such a life-changing initiative under Operation Sadbhavana.
