On April 13, 2025, religious bodies, political groups, the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), and the Apex Ladakh Guesthouse Association (ALGA) in Ladakh passed a joint resolution to boycott non-local investments. This unified action aims to protect local businesses, enforce the use of Ladakh Resident Certificates (LRC) to prioritize regional economic control, and launch a non-cooperation movement starting the same day. The resolution reflects growing concerns over preserving Ladakh’s cultural identity, land rights, and economic autonomy amid fears of external exploitation, aligning with broader demands for constitutional safeguards like inclusion under the Sixth Schedule and statehood to ensure local representation and resource management

There is anxiety over rights of natives, influx of outsiders and lack of political representation after formation of the Union Territory of Ladakh in 2019
