In Ladakh, the much-anticipated 4th LG Cup Ice Hockey 2024-25 concluded at Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang Kargil with thrilling matches and remarkable performances, solidifying Ladakh's status as the hub of ice hockey in India.
In the men’s final, the LSRC Army Team emerged victorious, defeating the ITBP Team by a narrow margin of one goal in a nail-biting finale. Meanwhile, the ITBP Women’s Team dominated the women’s category, defeating the LWIHF Team with an impressive score line of 9-0, showcasing their supremacy in the tournament.
The event was graced by Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), who praised the high spirit of Kargil's people and commended the organizing committee for delivering an extraordinary sporting event. The LG assured the timely completion of the incomplete International Standard All-Weather Ice Hockey Rink in Kargil and proposed the addition of an amphitheatre to improve the viewing experience for spectators in the Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang Kargil. Brig. Dr BD Mishra expressed hope that teams from Ladakh will soon represent India on the international stage.
On this occasion CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, First Lady Neelam Mishra, senior government officials, military officers, and thousands of enthusiastic spectators increased the atmosphere of excitement..
The matches were also live-streamed on AIR News Kargil’s YouTube channel, earning widespread appreciation from viewers.
The Player of the Match, Women, was Dichen Dolkar (ITBP) and, Men was Thenless Gyalson (ITBP) , the Player of the Tournament, Women was Tashi Dolkar (ITBP) and Men Tsewang Dorjey (LSRC) was and the Best Goalie, Women was Skalzang Putit (LWIHF) and Men was Sonam Tsatan (LSRC).
This tournament has once again showcased the immense potential of ice hockey in Ladakh, bringing together athletes and spectators in celebration of the sport.
