Sundar Pichai announced that Google Maps will now integrate the Gemini with a new “Ask Maps” feature. The company also introduced “Immersive Navigation,” calling it the biggest upgrade to the Maps navigation experience in more than a decade.

The AI-powered Ask Maps feature turns Google Maps into a personal assistant. Using Gemini, users can ask detailed or specific questions and receive personalised recommendations based on real-world conditions.

For example, users can ask questions like where the nearest public bathroom is with the shortest queue, or where they can quickly charge their phone nearby. The app will then provide the best possible option.

Google said users can simply tap the “Ask Maps” button and ask questions conversationally, with a customised map showing relevant options.
