The High Court of Kerala directed the Kasaragod Additional Sessions Court to grant bail to a 73-year-old man, accused of ra**ng an eight-year-old girl, the same day he applies for bail. But the lower court ignored the direction and sent the man, father of an IUML councillor in Kanhangad, to judicial custody.
It turns out, his lawyers cited non-existent lesser charges to procure a favourable verdict from the high court. The public prosecutor stayed mum there. But the lower court decided to its job

The accused was absconding since he was charged with sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in November 2022.
