Dirty Bedsheets at SDH Billawar Raise Questions Over Hospital Cleanliness and Patient Care

Billawar, Kathua: Concerns over cleanliness and hygiene have been raised at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Billawar, after a bedsheet provided on a hospital bed was reportedly left unchanged despite becoming visibly dirty and unhygienic.

The condition of the bedsheet has raised questions about the maintenance of basic hygiene standards in the hospital, particularly in areas where patients are admitted and treated. Patients and attendants expect hospitals to maintain clean beds, bedsheets and other essential facilities to prevent the spread of infections and ensure a safe environment for treatment.

Moreover, garbage was found scattered outside the dustbins, further raising concerns about the cleanliness and sanitation arrangements in the hospital. The condition of the toilets was also reported to be poor and unhygienic, causing inconvenience to patients and their attendants and raising concerns about basic hygiene standards.

The reported failure to replace the dirty bedsheet has caused concern among patients and their attendants, who have urged the hospital administration to pay greater attention to cleanliness and sanitation.

Hospital authorities are expected to ensure that bedsheets are changed regularly and whenever they become soiled. Proper hygiene is an essential part of patient care and hospital infection-control practices.

Patients and attendants have appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take necessary steps to improve cleanliness and ensure that such lapses do not occur in the future.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ Celebrations Held Across Lohai Malhar and Various Districts of Jammu and Kashmir
Lohai Malhar, Jammu & Kashmir: Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, was observed with religious fervour, devotion and enthusiasm in Lohai Malhar and several districts across Jammu and Kashmir.
In Lohai Malhar, devotees gathered at mosques and religious places to participate in special prayers, Milad gatherings, Durood-o-Salam and religious programmes. Religious scholars highlighted the life, teachings and message of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, with particular emphasis on peace, brotherhood, compassion, justice and helping those in need.
The celebrations were marked by the recitation of Naat, speeches by religious scholars and collective prayers for peace, prosperity and communal harmony. Many localities were decorated with lights, banners and Islamic-themed decorations, while people exchanged greetings and extended Eid Milad-un-Nabi wishes to one another.
Similar programmes were organised in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, where people participated in Milad gatherings and religious processions with great enthusiasm. In several areas, devotees assembled in large numbers to listen to religious discourses and offer prayers.
The occasion also witnessed messages urging people, particularly the younger generation, to follow the noble teachings and exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in their daily lives. Speakers stressed that the true spirit of Eid Milad-un-Nabi lies in promoting peace, humanity, tolerance, brotherhood and service to society.
Local administration, police personnel, volunteers and community members also played an important role in facilitating the peaceful conduct of the programmes and maintaining proper arrangements in areas witnessing large gatherings.
The celebrations concluded with collective prayers for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and for the well-being of people across the country. The occasion once again reflected the deep religious devotion of the Muslim community and its commitment to the values of peace, harmony and humanity.

80th Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour in Billawar:

Billawar, August 15, 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour in Billawar, with a large gathering of students, teachers, officials, security personnel and local residents participating in the celebrations.
The main function was held at Billawar, where ADC Billawar Vishvajeet Singh, JKAS, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and hoisted the National Flag amid the singing of the National Anthem.
The celebration witnessed a colourful presentation of patriotic songs, cultural performances, traditional dances and awareness-based programmes by students. Participants dressed in tricolour-themed and traditional attire presented performances highlighting India's unity, diversity and rich cultural heritage.
A large number of students, parents, teachers and members of the public gathered at the venue to witness the celebrations. NCC cadets and other student groups also participated with discipline and enthusiasm, adding to the patriotic atmosphere.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the DFO Billawar and SDPO Billawar, along with other officers, officials, teachers and members of the local administration.
