For years, the residents of Ward No. 19, Shiva Nagar have been demanding that the deep drain alongside the road be covered, but their concerns continue to be ignored. The drain is:

Uncovered and dangerously deep 🚧

Narrowing the road space ❌

Overflowing with rainwater and wastewater 🌧️💧

Practically invisible during rains, blending into the road 🛑

With the canal on one side and the drain on the other, drivers are stuck in a dangerous trap — often forced to swerve away from the canal, only to end up in the drain.

Train Derailment in Kathua After Landslide Hits Tracks!

A goods train traveling from Jammu to Punjab derailed this morning in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua district after a massive landslide triggered by heavy rains dumped debris onto the railway tracks near Lakhanpur.

Trackman Ram Bahadur confirmed: “Due to the rain, a landslide occurred, and all the debris came onto the track. As a result, the train got derailed.”

Railway officials reached the spot immediately, and rescue work is underway to restore rail traffic on the affected track, the officials said.
