* *HUGE CACHE OF ILLICIT LIQUOR RECOVERED; 108 QUARTERS OF JK EXCISE WHISKY SEIZED BY KATHUA POLICE AT HIRANAGAR AREA ; 01 PERSON ARRESTED & 01 VEHICLE SEIZED.*

PRESS RELEASE;

KATHUA, 13 JULY: Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS* on Saturday arrested one bootlegger & recovered Huge Cache i.e total 108 quarters of JK Excise Whisky from the vehicle Baleno Car bearing Reg No. JK08J-3626 in the jurisdictional area of, P/S Hiranagar area and one person arrested.

On 12-07-2025 it was reliably learnt that few persons were doing the trade of illicit liquor and enrouted towards Hiranagar area and had kept the huge consignment of illicit liquor (JK Whisky Madeira) in his vehicle Baleno bearing Reg. No. Jk08J-3626. Acting on the same information police team led by Insp. Ashish Sharma SHO P/S Hiranagar under the guidance of *SP Ops Kathua Sh. Mukund Tibrewal IPS & SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Katoch* during special checking in its jurisdictional area, noticed said vehicle bearing Reg. No. JK08J-3626 which was signalled to stop for checking. During thorough checking, 108 quarters of 250 ml (JK Excise Whisky) were recovered from the said vehicle which he had kept in his vehicle in order to gain illegitimate profit by selling same to people of concerned area. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor i.e total 108 bottles of JK Excise Liquor alongwith vehicle involved was seized and one person namely Ramesh Chander Sharma S/o Janak Raj Sharma R/o Gurah Mundian Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua was arrested in this connection.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 98/2025 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Hiranagar and investigation has been initiated.

SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS assures that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
The general public appreciates the efforts of Kathua Police in seizing the stockpile of Illicit liquor and apprehending the accused and believes that such actions will deter others from engaging in similar activities.
