Jammu & Kashmir Police is organizing a “Run for Unity” on 31st October 2025 at 08:30 AM to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

All residents of Bani, officers and officials of various departments, youth, and students from schools and colleges are cordially invited to participate in this event.

The run will start from Police Station Bani to Dhaggar Bridge and back to the Police Station, where refreshments will be served.

An interactive session will also be held at the Police Station after the run.

J&K POLICE KATHUA HOLDS PIPPING CEREMONY FOR DySP PROBATIONERS.

Kathua, October 30, 2025: A pipping ceremony was held today at District Police Headquarters Kathua to honour the recently promoted Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) who have successfully completed their probation period and assumed new responsibilities.

The ceremony was presided over by *Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua(SSP Kathua)* along with *SP Ops. Kathua Sh. Mukund Tibrewal IPS*. During the event, DySP Nitish Sharma, DySP Geetanjali Gupta and DySP Yawar Khan were formally decorated with their new ranks.

*SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS* congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotion, lauding their dedication, professionalism, and service to the department. She urged them to continue performing their duties with utmost integrity, enthusiasm, and commitment towards maintaining peace and public order.

Inter-Zone District Level National Youth Festival held at Kathua under Viksit Bharat campaign

DC Rajesh Sharma inaugurates event; urges youth to channel creativity towards nation building

Kathua, October 29: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kathua, today organized the Inter-Zone District Level National Youth Festival under the “Viksit Bharat” campaign, featuring a vibrant display of creativity, culture, and youthful enthusiasm.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the festival by lighting the traditional lamp. He was accompanied by Vice Principal Government Degree College Kathua Rakesh Singh Jasrotia as the Guest of Honour. Among other dignitaries present were District Social Welfare Officer Kathua Varun Chaudhary and Excise and Taxation Officer Kathua Mudasir Ji.

The event, held at the auditorium of Government Degree College Kathua, brought together talented youth from various educational zones of the district. Participants exhibited their artistic and intellectual potential in a range of competitions including Folk Dance, Folk Song, Declamation, Story Writing, Painting, and Poetry.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the efforts of the young participants and said that such festivals serve as important platforms for the youth to express their creativity, strengthen cultural ties, and move closer to achieving their aspirations under the spirit of Viksit Bharat.

As a gesture of encouragement, the Excise and Taxation Department Kathua extended its support to the initiative by distributing refreshments among the participants, adding to the spirit of camaraderie and collective celebration.

In the results, Zone Malhar emerged as the winner in the Folk Song category followed by Zone Bhaddu as runner-up, while Zone Kathua bagged the top position in both Folk Dance and Poetry, with Zone Billawar and Zone Malhar securing runner-up positions respectively. In Story Writing and Declamation, Zone Hiranagar took the lead with Zone Sallan finishing as runner-up in both categories, whereas Zone Kathua also clinched the first place in Painting, followed by Zone Marheen.

At the conclusion, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua Sunil Singh Sambyal presented trophies to the winning and runner-up teams and commended all participants for their remarkable performances and enthusiasm.

Youth Engagement and Empowerment Action Plan discussed in Kathua

DC calls for coordinated efforts to channelize youth energy through skill, sports, and self-employment initiatives

Kathua, October 29: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, today chaired a meeting of concerned departments to discuss the Youth Engagement and Empowerment Action Plan aimed at creating opportunities for holistic development of youth in the district.

During the meeting, the DC emphasized the need for all stakeholder departments to converge their efforts to bring greater awareness among youth about various welfare and skill development schemes being implemented by different departments. He said that coordinated efforts are essential to guide youth in choosing suitable development pathways and to encourage their participation in nation-building initiatives.

The DC called upon departments to organize a series of awareness camps, counselling sessions, and vocational training programmes in collaboration with Mission Yuva, Employment, Skill Development, and Rural Development Departments. He further stressed the inclusion of initiatives from agriculture and allied sectors, handicrafts, handloom, and art and craft fields to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth.

Special emphasis was laid on engaging youth in sports and fitness activities by strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting participation through clubs, tournaments, and community-level events. The DC directed the Youth Services and Sports Department to formulate a calendar of activities to ensure regular engagement of youth across all blocks.

The meeting also discussed measures to establish effective linkages with educational institutions, NGOs, and other community-based organizations for mobilizing youth participation and sustaining momentum under the action plan.

Among others, SSP Kathua, ADC Kathua, PO ICDS, SDM Hiranagar, CPO, CEO, DYSSO, DIO and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
