An 18-foot-deep well in a village within Gujarat’s Morbi district has drawn widespread curiosity and crowds after continuously generating waves and ripples for nearly five days. The unusual activity initially sparked speculation about seismic movement, but officials clarified there is no evidence linking the phenomenon to earthquake activity, suggesting it is likely caused by trapped air escaping during groundwater recharge.District Geologist J S Vadher explained that preliminary findings indicate heavy upstream rainfall recharged groundwater, forcing air trapped in the pore spaces of underground rocks to escape and create the rippling effect. Authorities, including the Institute of Seismological Research in Gandhinagar, confirmed that there are no active fault lines in the area, while local administration continues to monitor the site.
