अक्टूबर २००६ , को आवाज़ ने अपना पहला मासिक समाचार पत्र प्रस्तुत किया | आवाज़ पिछले 14 वर्षों से कैम्पस सम्बन्धी ताज़ा समाचार तथा सामयिक विषयों पे समीक्षा प्रस्तुत करती रही है | इन वर्षों में कैम्पस में काफी कुछ बदला है और राजभाषा हिंदी के माध्यम से 'आवाज़' आपसे अनवरत जुड़ी रही |


कैम्पस से जुड़ी घटनाओं पे निष्पक्ष राय सहित विधिवत विश्लेषण हमारी खूबी रही है | 'पंजी डूड ' आर. के. लक्ष्मण के 'कामन

मैन' की तरह एक मुहावरा बन चुका है | 'भाट' ,'इनसे क्या कहें' तथा एक पहलु ऐसा भी' हमारे प्रचलित स्तम्भ हैं जिनका जनता को बेसब्री से इंतज़ार रहता है | आवाज़ के 'पहल' नाम के स्तम्भ से आई आई टी खड़गपुर में कई क्रन्तिकारी बदलाव आये जिनमे मुख्यतः छात्रावासों की नियमित साफ़ सफाई , कैम्पस के आस पास के इलाकों में छात्रों द्वारा शिक्षा सेवा आदि हैं | विश्वसनीयता ने लोकप्रियता का रास्ता अपने आप खोल दिया और 'आवाज़ ' कैम्पस में आपके लिए समाचार का शुलभ माध्यम बन गया।

ताज़ातरीन सामग्री तत्काल उपलब्ध कराने के लिए हमारी टीम साल के 365 दिन काम करती है| कैम्पस ही नहीं, इससे जुड़े विश्व के लगभग हर कोने से खबर ढूंढ कर हमारे पत्रकार आप तक समाचार पहुंचाने के लिए तैनात रहते हैं | २००६ में टीम का गठन होने के बाद आवाज़ ने कई उतार चढाव देखें हैं और अब आवाज़ सुगठित होकर कैम्पस में नियमित समाचार का जरिया है | आवाज़ अपनी विशिष्ट भाषा शैली और निष्पक्षता के लिए हमेशा से जानी जाती रही है | शिक्षा से लेकर प्रबंधन तक हर विषय पर हमारे विशिष्ट लेख पत्रकारिता को दिशा देते रहे हैं | धन्यवाद

In a place that thrives on excellence, we found a different definition of success. It's in the quiet rhythm of Kampala Dey's work, and the steadfast love for her family.

The Institute Senate recently held its 359th meeting and approved key reforms to make learning more engaging and student-centric.

Here’s a summary of the announced changes:
1. Deregistration Policy: The Senate has discontinued the deregistration policy for attendance.
2. Continuous Assessment: Continuous assessment methods such as quizzes, surprise tests, and submissions will replace the previous TA-based system.
3. Evaluation Weightage: Up to 40% weightage will now be given to continuous evaluation, with a small attendance component.
4. Semester Exam Weightage: The semester exam weightage will be revised accordingly.

These reforms aim to promote motivation, belonging, and holistic learning, making attendance a reflection of engagement, not enforcement.

Major Academic Reform: The Senate has also approved discontinuing the old “two-thirds credit clearance” rule for promotion to the next academic year. Under the new flexible credit-based system, faculty advisors and ERP will ensure timely registration and tracking of backlogs to maintain academic rigor and smooth progression.

In conversation with a student who, after years of inner quiet pain and self-doubt, found the strength to begin his healing journey through the guidance of IIT Kharagpur’s Counselling Centre.

Growing up amid conflict and isolation, he carried invisible scars into college life. Yet, when the pressure became unbearable, he chose to reach out, and that decision changed everything.

Awaaz had the opportunity to talk to him as he described his journey. Through his experience, we glimpse into how the counselling centre has evolved into a space of understanding and support, helping students rediscover balance and hope. His story reminds us that healing begins with a single step: the courage to ask for help.

39th Inter IIT Aquatics Meet 2025 || Day 3 Highlights

IIT Kharagpur’s aquatics contingent displayed a brilliant performance on the 3rd day of the Aquatics meet.

The Water Polo team secured a stunning 20-3 victory against IIT Gandhinagar.

Medals

Nikita Pavle, Hiteshree Jadeja, Ayushi Upadhayay and Shrushti Chandorkar won the silver medal in 4 x 50m freestyle relay.

39th Inter IIT Aquatics Meet 2025 || Day 2 Results

IIT Kharagpur’s aquatics contingent continued their winning streak on the 2nd day of the aquatics meet. 

The Water Polo Team secured a remarkable 32-0 victory against IIT Dhanbad and also triumphed over IIT Kanpur with a score of 10-8.

Medals

Hard Desai won a silver medal in the men’s 200m freestyle with a timing of 2:22.95

Ayushi Upadhyay won the bronze in the women’s 100m backstroke, clocking in at 1:36.95

अज्ञान पर ज्ञान की जीत का शंखनाद! रावण का अंत केवल एक पौराणिक कथा नहीं, बल्कि एक प्रतीक है — हमारे भीतर और समाज में व्याप्त बुराइयों के विरुद्ध संघर्ष का।
दशहरा हमें याद दिलाता है कि सच्चाई, धैर्य और संकल्प के साथ हर असत्य पर विजय संभव है।

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the demise of Mr. Harsh Kumar Pandey. He was a PhD Research Scholar from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His loss has left the campus in deep shock and grief. This marks the fifth such tragic incident in the institute this year, adding to the collective pain and concern within our community.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for 2025 have been unveiled by the Union Ministry of Education. In the Overall India Rankings, IIT Kharagpur was placed at the 6th position among all participating Higher Educational Institutions. IIT Kharagpur secured the 5th rank in Engineering, 5th rank among Research Institutions, 3rd rank in Architecture and Planning, 12th rank in Management, and 6th rank in Law. 

Among the parameters for ranking were Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Peer Perception.

Continuing from the past year, IIT Kharagpur once again secured the 6th rank with a score of 73.99, a dip from last year’s 74.77. Improvements were seen in Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) and Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), reflecting progress in providing better learning outcomes and better accessibility and inclusion measures. Research and Professional Practice (RPC) saw a decline, suggesting a marginal slowdown in research output or collaborations.  Graduation Outcomes (GO) remained strong. Perception score steeply declined from 75.24 to 69.51, highlighting a reduction in peer or public reputation despite academic and infrastructural gains.

For an institute of IIT Kharagpur’s stature, perception is critical. It not only affects rankings but also influences collaborations, funding opportunities, and the ability to attract top students and faculty. The decline suggests that the institute may need to work better to not only improve its peer perception but also work from within to eliminate the systemic factors which are behind this decline.
