The Bible account of Nebuchadnezzar II, the powerful king of Babylon, shows how Jehovah demonstrates His sovereignty over human rulers. According to the book of Daniel (Daniel 4:30-37), the king became proud of his achievements and credited himself for Babylon’s greatness, but a heavenly decree removed his sanity and rulership for “seven times,” fulfilling the principle that “the Most High is Ruler in the kingdom of mankind” (Daniel 4:32). Living like an animal humbled him until he acknowledged God’s supremacy, after which his sanity and throne were restored. This account highlights a timeless lesson echoed at Proverbs 16:18 — pride leads to downfall, but humility before God brings restoration and recognition of His ultimate authority.
