According to the 2023 Annual Climate Report from NOAA, the average temperature of the land and ocean has increased by 2° F since 1850. Since 1982, the rate of warming has increased to 0.36° F per decade, which is more than three times faster than the previous rate.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) predicts that global temperatures will rise to record levels in the next five years. The WMO predicts that there is a 66% chance that the average global temperature between 2023 and 2027 will be more than 1.5° C above pre-industrial levels for at least one year. The WMO also predicts that there is a 98% chance that at least one of the next five years will be the warmest on record.
The US EPA predicts that average global temperatures will increase by 0.5° F to 8.6° F by 2100. The EPA also predicts that ground-level air temperatures will continue to warm more rapidly over land than oceans
