Paolienlal Haokip has stated that he does not support the idea of increasing the number of villages in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts.

According to his statement, the villages that exist today are those that were re-established after displacement during the 1992 Kuki–Naga conflict, and should be understood in that historical context.
