SAKSHAM Delegation Led by State Vice President Ajit Singh Kotwal Calls on Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Bhaderwah
BHADERWAH, July 30: A deputation of SAKSHAM, a national-level organisation dedicated to the welfare, empowerment and rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), led by its State Vice President, Sh. Ajit Singh Kotwal, today called on Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bhaderwah, Sh. Shahnawaz Ahmad, to discuss various issues concerning the welfare, rehabilitation and empowerment of the differently-abled community.
The deputation comprised Smt. Sukirta Kotwal District President, Sh. Sudhir Kotwal District Vice President, Smt. Satya Kotwal District Vice President Mahila Wing and other members of the organisation.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted several issues pertaining to the effective implementation of welfare schemes for Persons with Disabilities, including the timely issuance of disability certificates, provision of assistive devices, pensions, scholarships, rehabilitation services and greater awareness of various government welfare initiatives. The members also emphasised the need for stronger coordination between SAKSHAM and the Social Welfare Department to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every eligible beneficiary in a timely and transparent manner.
The delegation further urged the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer to take up the matter with the Health Department and the competent authorities for organising special medical assessment camps in Bhaderwah, enabling eligible persons to obtain medical fitness and disability certificates locally instead of travelling to Doda. Responding to the request, the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer assured the delegation that the matter would be vigorously pursued with the concerned authorities for favourable consideration.
Giving a patient hearing to the issues and suggestions placed before him, TSWO Bhaderwah, Sh. Shahnawaz Ahmad, assured the delegation of the Social Welfare Department's full support and cooperation. He reiterated the department's commitment to the effective implementation of welfare programmes and assured that every possible assistance would be extended to eligible Persons with Disabilities in accordance with the prescribed rules and guidelines.
The meeting concluded on a cordial and optimistic note with both sides reaffirming their commitment to working in close coordination for the empowerment, inclusion and socio-economic development of Persons with Disabilities in Bhaderwah while ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of the benefits of government welfare schemes.
