Petrol Prices Again Up by โ‚น2.61, Diesel by โ‚น2.71; Fourth Hike in Less Than 2 Weeks*

New Delhi,May 25 : Petrol and diesel prices were increased by up to โ‚น2.71 per litre on Monday, marking the fourth fuel price hike in less than two weeks as oil marketing companies continued passing on the burden of rising international crude prices to consumers.

As per details available petrol prices in Delhi were raised by โ‚น2.61 per litre, taking the rate to โ‚น102.12 per litre from โ‚น99.51, while diesel prices witnessed a hike of โ‚น2.71 per litre, reaching โ‚น95.20 per litre from โ‚น92.49.

With the latest increase, petrol and diesel prices have cumulatively gone up by nearly โ‚น7.5 per litre since fuel price revision resumed on May 15 after a long freeze.

Industry sources said the continued hike in fuel prices comes amid elevated global crude oil prices and depreciation in the value of the Indian rupee, which has significantly increased import costs for oil marketing companies.

The repeated increase in fuel prices is expected to impact transportation costs and could further push inflationary pressure across sectors.
