*Driver Injured, Four Pilgrims Escape Unhurt as Amarnath Yatra Vehicle Hits Divider in Udhampur*

Udhampur, July 9 (JKNS): A vehicle that was part of the Amarnath Yatra convoy met with an accident early Wednesday morning in the Narsoo area of Chenani in Udhampur district, leaving the driver injured while four other pilgrims escaped unhurt.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the incident occurred at around 6:17 AM when a Pahalgam-bound Yatra convoy’s tail vehicle bearing registration number HR 40H 6485 veered off and struck a road divider.

The injured driver has been identified as Shashikant, son of Prem Chand, a resident of Karnal, Haryana. He sustained a head injury and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Udhampur for treatment, they said.

The four accompanying pilgrims,are safe, officials said. Dhoni Kumar accompanied the injured driver to the hospital as an attendant, they added.

Preliminary reports suggest that the accident occurred after the driver fell asleep while driving. Further investigation is underway. (JKNS)

Srinagar, July 07 (KNO): Following the 15-days summer break, the government Monday decided to reopen the schools in Kashmir on July-08.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Minister of Education Sakina Itoo said, “We have decided to reopen the schools on Tuesday.”

Itoo also said that the schools falling under the Srinagar Municipality Limits shall function from 7:30 Am to 11:30 Am.

She said that the schools outside the Srinagar Municipality Limits shall function from 8Am to 12Pm.

The minister further informed KNO that the schools shall conduct two online classes to complete the syllabus on time.—(KNO)

Srinagar, July 01 (GNS): Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting with the senior officers and reviewed the final preparations for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo; Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti Department Shri Shaleen Kabra; DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat; Special Director General (Coordination), PHQ, Shri S.J.M Gillani; Principal Secretary Home Shri Chandraker Bharti; Principal Secretary, Finance Shri Santosh D Vaidya; ADGP CID Shri Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor and CEO SASB Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari and senior officials of SASB, Police and Civil Administration.

The Lieutenant Governor took a comprehensive review of the traffic & security management and all the arrangements in place by the stakeholder departments for the smooth, safe and hassle-free holy pilgrimage.

The Lieutenant Governor directed the officials for widespread publicity of Traffic Advisory so that common man is not inconvenienced. District Administrations, SSPs, Traffic Police and Stakeholder departments should work in close coordination to ensure movement of pilgrims in designated convoys and smooth implementation of the traffic plan, he said.

He further directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that Lodgement centres and sanitation units are in good condition.(GNS)

*ACB Finds Irregularities In Recruitment Process In Fire and Emergency Services Department J&K, Investigation Underway*

Srinagar, July 1(GNS): Anti Corruption Bureau J&K on Tuesday said that it have found irregularities in recruitment process in Fire and Emergency Services Department J&K.

In a handout to GNS, a Spokesman for ACB said that this is for the information of general public and in particular for the aggrieved aspirants of Fire and Emergency Services Department J&K. Based on complaint about irregularities in the recruitment process of Fireman and Fireman Drivers in 2020, the Anti Corruption Bureau J&K through P/S Central ACB J&K conducted verification into the matter where certain irregularities were found in the recruitment process and certain candidates were wrongly selected. Based on the findings of the verification, a formal case FIR No. 01/2025 was registered in P/S Central ACB J&K on 01/01/2025. There are several allegations which need in-depth investigation and is time consuming. Some of the facts which lead to delay in the completion in the investigation are identification of wrongly selected candidate and study of their bank transaction history to identify the money trail so that they can properly be linked in the instant case.

The spokesman further stated that identification of touts/middleman through whom the money of the wrongly selected candidates has routed and study of the bank transaction history of such touts to identify the forward money trail, so that the culprits at the highest level can be identified.

The recruitment process under question was a huge process whereunder around 700 candidates have been selected as such large volumes of records are to be scrutinized properly to identify the wrongly selected candidates and the other culprits and the modus-operandi used.

All these processes are tedious and time consuming and are to be meticulously taken.

However, the Anti Corruption Bureau J&K is vigorously working on it and are committed to deliver justice by identifying all the irregularities in the said recruitment process and complete the investigation in the instant case at an earliest, reads the statement.(GNS)

Srinagar, July 1 (JKNS): In a strong move aimed at delivering justice to families affected by terrorism, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting and directed officials to reopen all cases related to innocent civilians killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists, some of which had been deliberately buried in the past.

In a post on X as per news agency JKNS office of LG Manoj Sinha wrote, Chaired a high-level meeting today to discuss issues concerning victim families whose loved ones were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.

Directed DCs & SSPs to reopen cases which were deliberately buried & file an FIR and ensure jobs are provided to NoKs on priority. DCs and SSPs to free terror victim families' property & land grabbed by terrorists or their sympathisers, it reads.

I've directed the officers to Identify those elements from terror ecosystem who were involved in killing of Common Kashmiris and currently working in Govt Depts. Special Cell to be established in LG Secretariat to address concerns of families. A similar cell to be set up in Chief Secretary's office, it reads.

Every possible assistance would be provided to terror victim families & culprits roaming free for many decades will be brought to justice. (JKNS)

*Crime Branch Kashmir Produces Chargsheet Against An Accused For Entering Fake Middle Pass Qualification Certificate In His Service Reccords*

Srinagar, July 01(GNS): The Economic Offence Wing of crime branch Kashmir on Tuesday produced chargesheet against a accused for entering fake middle class Certificate in his service records.

In a handout to GNS, the CB said that the Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir produced the charge-report in case FIR No. 06/2025 u/Ss 420, 468, 471 RPC of P/S Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar before the Hon’ble Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Anantnag against Bilal Ahmad Naikoo S/o Abdul Rehman Naikoo R/o Bidder, Kokernag Anantnag for his alleged involvement in entering a fake middle pass qualification certificate in his service records.

The brief facts that led to the registration of instant case are that complaint was received at Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir) to the extent that Bilal Ahmad Naikoo S/o Abdul Rehman Naikoo R/o Bidder, Kokernag (MTS Watcher in Forest Division Anantnag Range Kokernag) has managed entry of fake middle pass qualification certificate in his service records. It was also alleged that the said certificate is fake and forged. As the complaint disclosed commission of cognizable offences punishable u/Ss 420, 468, 471 RPC, case FIR No. 06/2025 was registered in P/S Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir).

The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the above said accused person for commission of offences u/Ss 420, 468, 471 RPC. The investigation of the instant case has been carried out under the provisions of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023. The case was concluded within 60 days period and the charge-report (challan) of the instant case has accordingly been presented in the Hon’ble Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Anantnag for judicial determination, reads the statement.(GNS)

*Labourer from Doda Dies by Su***de in Kargil, Police Initiate Investigation*

Kargil, July 1 (JKNS): A 28-year-old labourer from Doda district of Jammu division was found dead by su***de in a rented room in Saliskote area of Kargil late last night, police said.

Official sources told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Shakeel Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Paray Pur, Tehsil Gundana, District Doda, who was temporarily living in Ludna, Shekipur. Shakeel had arrived in Saliskote around June 12 to work as a labourer and was sharing accommodation with two others.

According to police sources, Shakeel had complained of stomach pain and stayed back while his roommates went to work. Around 1 PM, when the others returned, they found the door locked from inside. On peeking through the window, they discovered Shakeel hanging.

Police reached the spot soon after being informed and secured the area. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also arrived at the scene and entered the room by breaking through a window.

“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of su***de,” a police officer told JKNS. “No signs of forced entry or struggle were observed at the site.”

Post-mortem of the body is currently underway, and the deceased’s father and uncle have arrived in Kargil. Further investigation is ongoing. (JKNS)
