Gabriel García Márquez was born in Colombia in 1927 and studied at the National University of Colombia. He worked as a journalist in Colombia, Rome, Paris, Barcelona and New York. He is the author of One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Autumn of the Patriarch, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Love in the Time of Cholera, The General in His Labyrinth and many more. Marquez was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982 and died in 2014.
