Two constables accused in rape-murder of Dalit woman in Rajasthan suspended

Police in Rajasthan have suspended two constables after they were accused in the gang-rape and murder of a 20-year-old Dalit woman in Bikaner district on Tuesday, officials said.
No arrest has been made in the case so far, police said, adding that the investigation against the two policemen and a third accused is underway.

The woman's body was found Tuesday in a deserted spot. On Wednesday, her relatives continued their protest, demanding the arrest of the accused and Rs 1 crore as compensation for the family. Following talks with the district administration, the family agreed to an autopsy in the evening.

As per the FIR, the victim would go to a coaching class every morning. 'For the last 10-15 days, (the main accused) Dinesh Bishnoi was stalking her. Even after being told not to, he did not stop stalking her,' stated the father in the FIR.

UK-India partnership a defining one for our times": British PM Rishi Sunak

London [UK], June 21 : British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak hailed the UK-India partnership on Wednesday, calling it "a defining one for our times", informed an official release.
His remarks have come ahead of India Global Forum's flagship UK-India Week 2023.

Praising the role of IGF in fostering closer ties between India and the United Kingdom, Sunak said the event is a catalyst for forging new trade ties.

"India Global Forum's annual UK-India Week is a highly anticipated fixture in the bilateral calendar of our two great nations. It is a catalyst for forging new trade ties, lasting collaborations, and a better future for our people. I am confident this partnership will be a defining one for our times," the British PM said.

Responding to Sunak's remarks, Manoj Ladwa, founder and chairman of India Global Forum, said that given the geopolitical upheaval and economic turbulence, it is more important than ever for India and UK to forge closer ties.

"Given the geopolitical upheaval and economic turbulence around the world, I believe that it is more important now than ever before that the UK and India forge closer and deeper ties. I am therefore grateful to Prime Minister Sunak for recognising the role that IGF is playing in bringing our two great democracies closer to unlocking the true potential of the partnership," he said.

Last year, as Chancellor, while speaking at IGF's UK-India Awards, Sunak had emphasised the importance of forging a partnership of equals.

"India isn't looking to the past. And nor can we. We need to move forward. Because the UK does not have a natural right to sit at the table with one of the world's largest, fastest-growing, and most dynamic economies. We must earn it," he said.

In the backdrop to the 2030 Roadmap agreed upon by both governments and the ongoing Free Trade Agreement negotiations, Prime Minister Sunak's comments are a key indicator of his ambition to transform and elevate UK-India ties, the release stated.

On the sidelines of the recent G-7 Summit in Hiroshima, Sunak and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while taking stock of the progress in the FTA negotiations.

The British government has estimated that a trade deal could increase UK's GDP by approximately 3.3- 6.2 billion euros and India's by around 3.7-8.6 billion euros by 2035.

Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party who will be opening UK India Week this year, said ahead of his participation, the time has now come to look to the future and work on all areas where there is scope for mutual benefit.

"I am looking forward to speaking at India Global Forum. The Labour Party has a long and strong relationship with India which I am very proud of. The time has now come to look to the future and work on how we can deepen and widen our cooperation in critical areas such as trade and investment, technology and innovation, climate action, diversity and inclusion, and healthcare, the future of work, skills and education all areas where I see huge scope for mutual benefit."

Union Minister for Power, New & Renewable Energy, RK Singh, and UK Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan will be among the several senior political and business figures from the UK and India participating at India Global Forum.

"India Global Forum's UK-India Week is a six-day series of events that brings together business leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders from India, UK and across the world to discuss and explore opportunities for further collaboration and growth. The event features a series of discussions, keynote speeches, and exclusive networking opportunities from the 24 to 30 June 2023 in London and Windsor. Over 2000 in-person participants will attend IGF UK- India Week 2023 over 12 marque events in iconic locations," the release stated.

পঞ্চায়েত ভোটেও সিবিআই তদন্ত, নথি বিকৃতি খতিয়ে দেখবে এজেন্সি, নির্দেশ হাইকোর্টের

এতদিন নিয়োগ সংক্রান্ত নানান দুর্নীতি নিয়ে সিবিআই তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিয়েছে হাইকোর্ট। এবার পঞ্চায়েত ভোটেও সিবিআই তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিল আদালত। যা বাংলা কেন দেশের নির্বাচনী ইতিহাসেও সম্ভবত নজিরবিহীন। উলুবেড়িয়ার একটি ঘটনায় সিবিআই তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিলেন বিচারপতি অমৃতা সিনহা।
উলুবেড়িয়া-২ ব্লকে কাশ্মীরা বিবি ও ওমজা বিবি নামের দুই সিপিএম প্রার্থী মনোনয়ন জমা দিয়েছিলেন। অভিযোগ, স্ক্রুটিনিতে তাঁদের ফর্ম বাতিল করে দেওয়া হয়। এই দুই প্রার্থীর অভিযোগ, তাঁরা যে মনোনয়নপত্র জমা দিয়েছিলেন তা বিকৃত করা হয়েছে। একইসঙ্গে তাঁদের বক্তব্য, বিডিওর কাছে অভিযোগ জানাতে গেলেও তা নেওয়া হয়নি।

এই ঘটনা নিয়ে আদালতের দ্বারস্থ হয়েছিলেন দু'জন। সেই মামলাতেই এদিন বিচারপতি অমৃতা সিনহা সিবিআই তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিলেন। আদালত এদিন বলেছে, আগামী ৭ জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে সিবিআইকে তদন্ত রিপোর্ট জমা দিতে হবে। ৮ জুলাই পঞ্চায়েত ভোট অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ঠিক তার আগের দিন তদন্ত রিপোর্ট চাইল আদালত।

বিচারপতি এদিন আরও বলেন, রাজ্য পুলিশকে এই তদন্তভার দেওয়া যাবে না । কারণ যাঁর বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ, তিনি রাজ্য সরকারি কর্মচারী। তাই নিরপেক্ষ তদন্তের জন্য সিবিআইকেই এই ভার দিয়েছেন বিচারপতি। সন্দেহ নেই, এই নির্দেশ সমগ্র প্রশাসনের উপর পরোক্ষে চাপ তৈরি করবে।

World's shortest living man qualifies for another Guinness record: Male with smallest hands
Iran's Afshin Ghaderzadeh, the world's shortest living man, has now qualified for yet another record - that of a male with the world's smallest hands.
The record, noted as the distance from the tip of the middle finger to the crease under the palm where the wrist begins, has the 20-year-old's left hand at 6.7 cm (2.63 in) and his right hand at 6.4 cm (2.51 in).

Notably, his hands are almost three times shorter than the average male adult's.

The record was awarded to him in Milan, Italy on the Guinness World Records' televised talent show Lo Show Dei Record. According to the Guinness Records website, Ghaderzadeh is the fourth-shortest man ever verified by it, standing at a height of 65.24 cm (2 ft 1.6 in).

Interestingly, just like Ghaderzadeh, the world's tallest living man Sultan Kösen too has hands that are of 'record-breaking' size. The largest hands on a living man measure 28.5 cm (11.22 in) in length and 30.48 cm (12 in) in width each. Currently, Kösen has to be escorted by his parents everywhere.

গত ১৫ এপ্রিল প্রয়াগরাজ হাসপাতালে কড়া পুলিশি পাহারায় শারীরিক পরীক্ষা করাতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়েছিল আতিক এবং তাঁর ভাই আশরফকে। হাসপাতালে ঢোকার মুখে সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিচ্ছিলেন দুই ভাই। সেই সময় আচমকাই সাংবাদিকদের ভিড়ে মিশে থাকা আততায়ীরা পয়েন্ট ব্ল্যাঙ্ক রেঞ্জ থেকে প্রথমে আতিকের মাথায় এবং পরে আশরফকে পর পর গুলি করে। ঘটনাস্থলেই মৃত্যু হয় আতিক এবং আশরফের।

এই ঘটনায় জড়িত তিন আততায়ীকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। ধৃতেরা হল লবলেশ, সানি এবং অরুণ। সকলেই উত্তরপ্রদেশের বাসিন্দা। আতিক খুনের নেপথ্যে বড় কোনও ষড়যন্ত্র ছিল কি না, খতিয়ে দেখতে বিশেষ তদন্তকারী দল গঠেন করেছে উত্তরপ্রদেশ সরকার।

পুঞ্চে জঙ্গি হামলায় হত সেনাদের ঘরে হাহাকার

চার মাসের সন্তান, তো কারও সাত মাসের। কেউ আবার সদ্য বিয়ে করেছিলেন। বৃহস্পতিবার এক লহমায় সব কিছু যেন ছিন্নভিন্ন হয়ে গেল। জম্মু-কাশ্মীরের পুঞ্চে জঙ্গি হামলায় হত পাঁচ জওয়ানের পরিবারে এখন শুধুই কান্নার রোল।
রাষ্ট্রীয় রাইফেলসের যে পাঁচ জওয়ান জঙ্গি হামলায় নিহত হয়েছেন, তাঁদের মধ্যে চার জন পঞ্জাবের এবং এক জন ওড়িশার।
তাঁরা হলেন, হাবিলদার মনদীপ সিংহ, ল্যান্স নায়েক দেবাশীষ বিস্বাল, ল্যান্স নায়েক কুলবন্ত সিংহ, সিপাহী হরকিষণ সিংহ এবং সিপাহী সেবক সিংহ। হত জওয়ানদের মধ্যে কারও ৭ মাসের শিশুকন্যা রয়েছে, কারও আবার ৪ মাসের পুত্রসন্তান। তাঁদের পরিবারের সদস্যেরা চাইছেন, যে ভাবে জওয়ানদের মারা হয়েছে, খুঁজে খুঁজে জঙ্গিদের যেন আরও ভয়ানক মৃত্যু দেওয়া হয়।

সীমান্ত থেকে উদ্ধার বান্ডিল বান্ডিল টাকা নদিয়ায় আটক দুই মারাঠি তরুণ

ভারত-বাংলাদেশ সীমান্তে দুই ব্যক্তিকে আটক করে মিলল ৭২ লাখ টাকা (Money Rescue) ! এই ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে নদিয়ার (Nadia) কৃষ্ণগঞ্জ থানার এলাকায় উত্তেজনা ছড়িয়েছে। ওই দুই ব্যক্তিকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ।জানাগিয়েছে, ওই দুই ব্যক্তি মহারাষ্ট্র থেকে এখানে এসেছিল।

ভারতীয় রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্ক (Reserve Bank Of India) ইতিমধ্যেই সবচেয়ে নিরাপদ ব্যাঙ্কগুলির নাম প্রকাশ করেছে। এই তালিকায় রয়েছে HDFC, ICICI এবং SBI। অত্যন্ত কড়া নজরদারির পরেই ব্যাংকের তালিকা ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। এই ব্যাঙ্কগুলির উপর বিশেষ গুরুত্ব সহকারে নজর রাখবে ভারতীয় রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্ক। এক্ষেত্রে স্থায়ী আমানত রাখার জন্য কোনো চিন্তা করতে হবেনা।
