Loyola Institute of Technology conducts Internal Smart India Hackathon 2025

The Internal Smart India Hackathon 2025 was successfully conducted at Loyola Institute of Technology, Palanchur, Chembarambakkam, on September 15 with enthusiastic participation from students across various departments.
A total of 60 teams comprising nearly 300 students showcased their innovative ideas and prototypes, addressing diverse problem statements under multiple themes.
The evaluation process was carried out by a distinguished panel of experts, including two academicians and one industry representative, who served as judges. Their valuable insights and constructive feedback helped participants refine their solutions further.
After a thorough assessment, 50 teams were selected to represent the institution. The event not only provided a platform for students to exhibit their creativity and problem-solving skills but also fostered teamwork, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration.
The hackathon concluded with inspiring words of encouragement from the dignitaries, motivating students to strive for excellence and contribute to nation-building through technology and innovation.

BB Combat Academy triumphs at ISKA South Zone Kickboxing Championship

BB Combat Academy, Iyappanthangal, has achieved an outstanding milestone by securing 22 medals at the ISKA South Zone Kickboxing Championship 2025, held in Kozhikode, Kerala. The Academy’s fighters delivered remarkable performances, winning 10 Gold, 9 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals across various categories.
This remarkable success is credited to the vision and guidance of Bishnu (Head Coach of BB Combat Academy) whose dedication and training methodology have consistently produced top-performing athletes.
Expressing his happiness, Coach Bishnu said, “This victory is a result of the hard work, commitment, and discipline of our athletes. Every medal won represents the spirit of perseverance and the values we nurture at BB Combat Academy. We are determined to prepare our fighters for even greater achievements at the national and international level.”

Onam celebration at Alpha

Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur celebrated the vibrant festival of Onam on Sept.4 with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour in its premises. The event served as a splendid showcase of Kerala’s rich heritage, uniting the college community in a joyous celebration of tradition and togetherness.
The festivities commenced with a welcome address by Esther Johanah of III B.Com General, setting an uplifting and spirited tone for the day. This was followed by an inspiring speech from the Principal, Dr. A. Sivashankar, who emphasized the significance of cultural observances in academic settings and encouraged students to embrace such traditions.
A dynamic performance of Chenda Melam reverberated across the campus, infusing the atmosphere with rhythmic energy. This was succeeded by mesmerizing Kerala-style group dance performances that enthralled the audience with its graceful portrayal of regional art forms. Melodious group and solo singing performances, reflecting the spirit of unity and joy followed. A compelling street play, presented by the Alpha Theatre Club student in-charge Pradeep Bala of III BCA, emerged as a highlight of the event.
The event culminated in a prize distribution ceremony, where Principal, Dr. Sivashankar felicitated the winners of the Atthapookalam (Floral Rangoli) and Vadamvali (Tug of War) competitions held on Sept.3. The Department of BBA clinched the first place in the Vadamvali contest, with BCA securing the runner- up position. In the Atthapookalam competition, out of 18 teams, the teams from the Departments of ISM, BBA, and BT were awarded first, second, and third prizes respectively.
The Onam celebration at Alpha Arts and Science College was a resounding success, leaving behind cherished memories of a day enriched with culture, spirited competition, and communal harmony.

Best Teachers award presented for 25 Teachers

The members of Rotary Club of Madras Vadapalani honoured and presented best teachers award to 25 teachers working various schools and NGO organisation supporting education to needy students in a function held at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, K.K.Nagar on Sept.1 for the 21st consecutive years.
The awards are presented by Padma Venkataraman (President of Women's India Association) in presence of V. R. Lakshmipriya (President of Rotary Club of Madras Vadapalani), S.Nevil P Rayan (Chairman, Vocational Service), Ayyanar (Director, Vocational Service) and John S. Mathew (Secretary).

Alpha conducts Inter School competition

Alpha Arts and Science College hosted Synergy 2025, an Inter-School Cultural and Tech Fest on September 2 at the college campus. The event witnessed the participation of over 600 students from 30 schools across Chennai.

The occasion was graced by chief guest Charles Godwin, HR Leader & Public Speaker, Zoho Corporation. The program commenced under the guidance of Suja George,

Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions, George John & Anna John, Joint Directors, Alpha Group of Institutions. Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal, Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal and Dr.K. Thamizharasi, Co-coordinator- Applied Courses were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.

The program began with the welcome address by Principal. Dr. A Sivasankar. The Chief Guest was introduced by Dr. G. Selvamangai, Head, Dept. of Biotechnology. The Chief Guest Charles Godwin, in his inspiring address, emphasized the importance of building confidence, nurturing creativity, and developing leadership skills among students. He highlighted how curiosity and adaptability are key qualities needed to thrive in the fast-changing global landscape. Encouraging students to embrace challenges, he said that true success lies not only in winning competitions but also in learning, collaborating, and discovering one’s inner potential.

He also shared personal experiences from his professional journey, illustrating how resilience and consistency in continuous learning helped him overcome obstacles. His motivational words left a lasting impression on the young participants, encouraging them to dream big and work with determination to achieve their goals.

The event featured a diverse lineup of competitions, including Cultural performances, Mini Hackathon, Business Brains, Film Festival, Tech League, Cook Without Fire, and several others, offering students a vibrant platform to showcase their knowledge, skills, and creativity. The programme concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony, where winners received cash prizes and certificates, while all participants were honored with appreciation certificates for their enthusiastic involvement. The Overall Championship trophy was awarded to Sethu Baskara Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Ambattur, and the Runners-Up Trophy was bagged by two schools namely, Avichi Hr. Sec. School, Virugambakkam & Zamar Matriculation School, Ayapakkam. The event came to a close with a vote of thanks by J. Nisha, Head, Dept. of Information Systems. Bringing together talent, innovation, and camaraderie, Synergy 2025 was a resounding success that will be remembered for fostering creativity and a shared passion for learning among students and educators.
