RUPANTAR || রূপান্তর 🌺
Their faces were painted with faith, their voices carried devotion, and their bodies became vessels for stories older than memory. They were not actors. They were mediums — where art met worship, and performance became prayer.
Today, this ancient artform quietly fades — its echoes surviving in the forgotten corners of our festivals.
In this piece, I tried to relive that spirit. To feel what they must have felt — standing before hundreds, embodying the divine under mortal eyes.
As I walked the streets draped as Kali, something shifted. Between movement and stillness, between flesh and faith — I didn’t wear her.
She wore me.
This is my tribute to the Bohurupi artists — the shapeshifters of Bengal, who remind us that sometimes, art is not performed… it is lived.
