Yesterday marked World Food Day, which is celebrated to commemorate the 1996 World Food Summit. We’ve seen today how vegans of Bengal organized a rally and expressed their concern over the rising number of megacities in India.
Recently, the vegetarian culture has been on the rise in India because food from animal sources contain high levels of unwanted carbs and unhealthy fats. Peak-to-summit, veganism is becoming more prevalent as plant-based alternatives for various tasty foods with good nutritional value are offered all around.
According to a recent study by Sacred Connections (2018), 62% Indians would like to adopt vegan foods in their diet for a better lifestyle and 78% revealed that their main reason is better health and convenience. Various Indian states have also sensitised people towards adopting this lifestyle through innovative ways by offering lists of good quality vegan dishes which are available either at home or nearby restaurant.(Today's Vegans Of Bengal Group’s protest was undertaken in affiliation with these.
