Today’s case is from the home of one of our long-time clients.
The house has a pet dog. Over time, its hair, dust, and dirt had accumulated inside the AC, leaving the Cooling Coil in a severely dirty condition.
But the problem was not just the dirt.
The AC was also losing refrigerant gas repeatedly.
When we opened the AC and started our inspection, one particular area immediately caught our attention. There was a slight oily residue on a specific section of the Cooling Coil.
Whenever an oily or greasy residue is found around an AC pipe or Cooling Coil, it can be an indication of a possible refrigerant leak.
However, we cannot confirm the exact source of the leak simply by looking at that area.
If we want to provide a proper and long-term solution, the entire cooling system needs to be thoroughly inspected.
So, we started a high-pressure leak test of the complete cooling system to make sure there were no additional leaks elsewhere.
For easier understanding, in today’s video we are showing you only the specific area where the leakage was detected.
As you can see, the leak was found at the U-bend of the Cooling Coil.
And as soon as pressure was applied, a significant amount of gas was escaping from that exact point.
Now comes the most critical part of the repair.
First, the pressure will be completely released. Then, using a Mini Welder and a suitable brazing alloy, the damaged section will be carefully repaired.
This job may look simple, but in reality, it requires considerable skill and experience.
The copper tubing is extremely thin. Excessive heat can damage or melt the copper, while insufficient heat may result in an improper joint.
That is why, in this type of repair, modern equipment is important—but the technician’s experience and expertise are equally essential.
After completing the repair, we will once again perform a high-pressure leak test on the entire Cooling Coil.
The system will be kept under pressure for a certain period to ensure that the repair is holding properly and that there are no other leaks.
Once everything is confirmed to be perfectly fine, the Cooling Coil will be reinstalled and the entire AC will be thoroughly tested.
Remember, just because your AC is not cooling properly does not necessarily mean you need to replace the AC.

Remember: poor cooling performance does not always mean your AC needs to be replaced.
