Across Woodland brook, you will see
A dirty road that follows; take a turn
By the lake, a few more minutes it goes.
From the south when you reach Northeast,
You will see the peepal and you can be at ease.
Follow the owl from there, he will lead you to my home,
Where I want to return, my only desire.
Once this all ends, once from my duties I am relieved;
Please take me there, to my roots, I believe.
My little girl will be waiting at the gate,
For her father is now a bit late.
It took me long to keep my promise,
I made the night before I left her side.
I haven't seen her smile for this long,
After I am done, please take me along.
My ailing mother awaits her son to come,
Maybe today will be the day his work is done.
My father is there working in the fields,
Though I forbade him, I'm sure he concealed.
I want to be with them for the rest of my time,
Please take me there when I cross the line.
Though I have been away for this long, from there,
I am happy she is with them, taking care.
I saw her trying hard to wipe her tears,
I left in a hurry, couldn't look back in fear.
I want to make up for the mistakes of my own,
I will be with her, once you take me home.
A moment of time, please, a bit more is all I need;
Let me remember their faces for the last time, I plead.
Once this all ends, of my duties I am relieved—
Please take my ashes back home, to my family indeed.
