AN EVENING STROLL ON THE BEACH
കടൽത്തീരത്തെ സായാഹ്ന നടത്തം

Story:
സൂര്യൻ പതുക്കെ അസ്തമിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ആകാശത്ത് ഓറഞ്ചും ചുവപ്പും കലർന്ന വർണ്ണങ്ങൾ വിരിഞ്ഞുനിന്നു. ഒരു നേർത്ത കാറ്റ് മുഖത്ത് തഴുകി നീങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അയാൾ കടൽത്തീരത്തൂടെ നടക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. ദിവസത്തിലെ തിരക്കുകളിൽ നിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞ്, മനസ്സിന് ഒരു ശാന്തത നൽകാൻ അയാൾ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

ഓരോ തിരമാലയും മണലിലേക്ക് ആഞ്ഞടിച്ച് തിരികെ പോകുമ്പോൾ, കടൽ ഒരു താരാട്ടുപാട്ട് പാടുന്നത് പോലെ അയാൾക്ക് തോന്നി. കാലുകൾ നനച്ച് കടന്നുപോകുന്ന വെള്ളത്തിന് ഒരു കുളിരുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ദൂരെ ചക്രവാളത്തിൽ സൂര്യൻ ഒരു വലിയ ചുവന്ന പൊട്ടുപോലെ താഴേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങുന്നത് അയാൾ നോക്കിനിന്നു. ആ കാഴ്ച അയാളുടെ മനസ്സിനെ വല്ലാതെ ആകർഷിച്ചു.
മുന്നോട്ട് നടക്കുംതോറും ആളുകൾ കുറഞ്ഞു വന്നു. ചില കുട്ടികൾ മണൽക്കൊട്ടാരം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു, മറ്റു ചിലർ വെള്ളത്തിൽ കളിക്കുന്നു. അവരുടെ ചിരി കേട്ട് അയാളുടെ ചുണ്ടിലും ഒരു പുഞ്ചിരി വിരിഞ്ഞു. തിരമാലകൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പലതരം ചിപ്പികളും ശംഖുകളും അയാൾ കണ്ടു. ഒരെണ്ണം കയ്യിലെടുത്ത് അതിന്റെ ഭംഗി ആസ്വദിച്ചു.

സൂര്യൻ പൂർണ്ണമായും അസ്തമിച്ചപ്പോൾ, ആകാശം കടുംനീല നിറമായി മാറി. ദൂരെ മീൻപിടിത്ത ബോട്ടുകളിലെ വെളിച്ചം കൊച്ചുകൊച്ചു നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ തിളങ്ങി. കടലിൽ നിന്ന് വീശിയ തണുത്ത കാറ്റ് അയാളുടെ മനസ്സിനെ കൂടുതൽ ശാന്തമാക്കി. എല്ലാ ചിന്തകളും മറന്ന് ആ സായാഹ്നത്തിന്റെ ഭംഗിയിൽ ലയിച്ചു നിന്നു.

മടങ്ങി നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അയാളുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ഒരുതരം ഉന്മേഷം നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. കടൽത്തീരത്തെ ആ സായാഹ്ന നടത്തം നൽകിയത് കേവലം ശാരീരികമായ ഒരു വ്യായാമം മാത്രമായിരുന്നില്ല, മറിച്ച് മനസ്സിന് കുളിരേകുന്ന ഒരനുഭവം കൂടിയായിരുന്നു.
