बेटा चौथी कक्षा में पढ़ रहा था, तभी शिक्षक ने पिता को बताया कि आपका बेटा बहुत बढ़िया शतरंज खेलता है। यदि इसे खेलने दिया जाय तो बहुत आगे जाएगा...
पिता बड़े डॉक्टर थे, माता भी डॉक्टर। हमारे समाज में ऐसे दम्पत्ति बच्चे के जन्म के पहले की तय कर देते हैं कि बच्चा डॉक्टर बनेगा। पर उस पिता ने रिस्क लिया, और आज के हिसाब से बहुत बड़ा रिस्क लिया। बच्चे को शतरंज खेलने में ही आनन्द आता था तो उसके जिम्मे केवल शतरंज खेलने का ही काम रहने दिया। मतलब समझ रहे हैं? बच्चे ने चौथी कक्षा के आगे पढ़ाई ही नहीं की है।
आप अपने आसपास दृष्टि दौड़ा कर देखिये, क्या ऐसा कोई पढा लिखा पिता दिखता है जो खेलने के लिए बेटे की पढ़ाई छुड़वा दे? नहीं मिलेगा। क्यों? क्योंकि हमारा लक्ष्य ही है कि बच्चा किसी तरह पढ़ लिख कर कहीं नौकर लग जाय। हम इससे उपर सोच ही नहीं पाते...
हाँ तो पिता ने बच्चे की पढ़ाई छुड़वा दी। बच्चा अच्छा खेल रहा था तो स्कूल के बाहर भी खेलने जाने लगा। अब छोटे बच्चे को अकेले तो कहीं भेज नहीं सकते, सो माता ने भी अपनी नौकरी लगभग छोड़ ही दी। उसके पीछे साये की तरह लगी रहती, उसके भोजन और सुविधा का ध्यान रखती, पसन्द-नापसंद का ध्यान रखती...
2017 में केवल ग्यारह वर्ष के उस बच्चे से किसी पत्रकार ने पूछा- आप आगे क्या करना चाहते हैं? लड़के ने बिना किसी झिझक के कहा था- मुझे सबसे कम आयु का ग्रैंडमास्टर बनना है। मुझे सबसे कम आयु का विश्व चैंपियन बनना है।
कल वह बच्चा सचमुच सबसे कम आयु का विश्वविजेता बन गया है। इस उपलब्धि में उसकी प्रतिभा, उसका समर्पण, उसे मिली सुविधाओं की भूमिका तो है ही, बस सबसे बड़ी भूमिका उसके पिता डॉ रजनीकांत के उस रिस्क की है जो उन्होंने उसकी चौथी कक्षा में पढ़ाई छुड़वा कर उठाई थी।
