⚽ The opposition is criticizing the state government over the controversy surrounding the Argentina football team's visit to Kerala, demanding accountability from the government.
📉 KPCC President Sunny Joseph stated that the government must respond to the situation, highlighting the significant amount of money spent and the failure of claims related to the visit.
💰 MP Hibi Eden suggested that the sports minister should reimburse the state treasury from his own pocket for the expenses incurred during the visit.
🗣️ MP Shafi Parampil accused the government of deceiving the public, describing the situation as a "manufactured disaster" and emphasizing the need for clarity regarding the alleged breach of contract by the Kerala government.
📜 The controversy began after Leandro Peterson, head of marketing for the Argentina Football Association, claimed that the Kerala government violated the contract, a statement the sports minister has denied.
🔍 The sports minister clarified that the state government did not sign any contracts directly, asserting that sponsors were responsible for the agreements with the Argentina team.

🏪 The Civil Supplies Commissioner has issued a circular enforcing a strict age limit of 70 years for ration shop owners in the state, stating that licenses must not be renewed for those over this age.
📅 Current license holders over 70 must transfer their licenses to heirs by January 20, 2026, or risk having their licenses revoked and new licenses issued.
🔄 Previously, the age limit for ration shop owners was set at 62 years but was not strictly enforced; the introduction of the Kerala Targeted Public Distribution System (KTPDS) in 2021 allowed for a five-year license extension for all traders.
❓ There was confusion regarding the extension of licenses for older traders, leading to verbal instructions from supply officers to temporarily extend licenses until clarity was provided in the recent circular.
⚠️ With the new age limit, if licenses are not transferred before reaching 70, the ration shop license will be lost, impacting many elderly traders who rely solely on this income.
📜 Ration shop associations are demanding that the new age limit not apply to existing licenses granted under the Kerala Rationing Control Order (1966) and that it should only affect new licenses issued after the KTPDS was implemented in 2021.
💼 The associations are also calling for retirement benefits and a decent pension for elderly traders who may be adversely affected by this policy change.

🇮🇳 Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian exports, urging India not to yield to any conditions set by the U.S.
🛑 Tharoor emphasized that it is unacceptable for one party to impose conditions while expecting the other to comply without question, stating that such colonial-era thinking should not be tolerated in modern India.
💰 He pointed out that the U.S. imports billions of dollars worth of fertilizers and other materials from Russia, highlighting the hypocrisy in their stance against India’s oil purchases from Russia.
📈 Tharoor noted that U.S. imports from Russia amounted to $2.4 billion in just five months this year, a 20% increase from the previous year, indirectly criticizing Trump's double standards.
🔥 He questioned how Trump could argue against India funding Russian military operations in Ukraine while the U.S. continues to engage in significant trade with Russia, calling it sheer hypocrisy.
🤝 Tharoor suggested that India needs to engage in dialogue with the U.S. regarding these issues, rather than passively accepting unilateral decisions.
📜 Trump had previously announced a 25% tariff on Indian exports, which was increased to 50% after India refused to comply with U.S. demands regarding oil purchases from Russia.

🇮🇳 Reports indicate that diplomatic relations between India and the U.S. are deteriorating over issues related to the Indo-Pacific region, leading India to halt the purchase of new weapons and aircraft from the U.S.
🛑 The Indian government has decided to pause these acquisitions as a sign of dissatisfaction, although the Ministry of Defence has not issued an official statement regarding this matter.
✈️ Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Washington next week, but reports suggest that this trip has been canceled, according to several officials.
🤝 The Indian government is reportedly engaged in active discussions with the U.S. regarding the Indo-Pacific situation, especially given the historical unpredictability of U.S. policies under former President Donald Trump.
📜 India’s stance is that clarity on the Indo-Pacific issues and bilateral relations with the U.S. is necessary before proceeding with the purchase of weapons and other military equipment.
🛡️ The planned acquisitions included Striker combat vehicles from General Dynamics Land Systems and Javelin anti-tank missiles developed by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, which have now been temporarily put on hold.
🌊 India also intended to acquire six Boeing P-8I reconnaissance aircraft for the Navy, with a total planned expenditure of ₹31,544 crores (approximately $3.6 billion) on military equipment.

🚌 The Kerala High Court has recommended changes to the scheduling of private buses in response to ongoing issues related to competitive racing and accidents among buses.
⏳ Following the government's decision to increase the time intervals between bus schedules, the court has intervened to ensure safer travel conditions.
🏙️ The government has suggested a five-minute interval between buses in urban areas and a ten-minute interval in rural areas to reduce competition and improve safety.
🚦 The Transport Commissioner proposed these changes due to reports of competitive racing and accidents involving private buses across the state.
📑 The government informed the High Court that the decision regarding bus schedules should be made at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) level, and directives have been issued to all RTOs in the state.
⚖️ The High Court emphasized the need for swift implementation of these changes, highlighting the importance of discussions with bus owners to finalize the new schedules.
🚦 In many urban areas of Kerala, permits have been granted to buses with only a two-minute difference, leading to reckless driving and traffic congestion as buses race to meet schedules.
