Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam (4 June 1946 – 25 September 2020), also referred to as S. P. Balu, S. P. B., or Balu, was an Indian musician, playback singer, music director, actor, dubbing artist and film producer who worked predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.[5] He has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages.[6] He holds the Guinness World Record for recording the highest number of songs by a singer with over 40,000 songs.[7][8] He has garnered six National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer for his works in four different languages; Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi; 25 Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards for his works towards Telugu cinema, numerous other state awards from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.[9][10] In addition, he garnered the Filmfare Award, and six Filmfare Awards South.[11][12] In 2012, he received the state NTR National Award for his contributions to Indian cinema.[13] In 2016, He was honored with the Indian Film Personality of the Year consisting of a Silver Peacock Medal.[14][15][16][17] He is a recipient of civilian awards such as Padma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2011) from the Government of India.[18] On 25 September 2020, he died in MGM Hospital due breathing difficulties even though he recovered from COVID-19.[19]

Sachidanandan (1972 – 18 June 2020), professionally credited as Sachy,[1] was an Indian screenwriter, director, and film producer who worked in the Malayalam film industry.[2] Initially, he co-wrote films with Sethu as a writer duo known as Sachi-Sethu, their works include Chocolate (2007), Robinhood (2009), Makeup Man (2011) and Seniors (2012). He made his independent debut as a screenwriter with the 2012 film Run Baby Run and his directorial debut with Anarkali (2015). Sasi Kalinga is an Indian actor who works in Malayalam cinema.[1] He has performed in Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2009, directed by Ranjith), Pranchiyettan & the Saint (2010, directed by Ranjith), Indian Rupee (2011, directed by Ranjith), Adaminte Makan Abu (Abu, Son of Adam, 2011) and in Amen (2013).[2][3] he died on 7 April 2020 in a private hospital in kozhikode.[4][5]

M. K. Arjunan (Malayalam: എം.കെ. അർജുനൻ) (fondly called as Arjunan Master) (1st March 1936 to 6th April 2020) was a Kerala State Award winning Malayalam music composer from Kerala, India. He is known for composing many melodies for Malayalam cinema.

During his youth, composing music was another turn in Arjunan's life. After attempts in small-time amateur plays, music composing grew into a serious hobby. Arjunan was soon sought after by almost every amateur troupe. He then graduated to the professional stage and was soon associated with top names like Changanassery Geedha, People's Theatre, Kalidasa Kalakendram, Desabhimani Theatres, Alleppey Theatres and KPAC. Arjunan Master went on to compose around 800 songs for 300 plays. This association grew into an intimate bond, which he maintains even today. [4]

The next step was cinema. At a time when stalwarts like K. Raghavan, G. Devarajan and M. S. Baburaj ruled the roost, Arjunan managed to break into the scene and establish an identity of his own. "karuthapurnami' was his debut movie as a composer which was released in 1968. His association with the leading lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi in almost 50 films was one of the most prolific composer-lyricist partnership in Malayalam film industry.[5]

During a career spanning 50 years in film field, Arjunan Master has scored music for more than 500 songs in over 218 Malayalam films.[6]

He is also credited with giving A. R. Rahman his first musical break by giving him a chance to play keyboards in a film. He passed away on 6th April, 2020, at Kochi, Kerala. [7] [8]
