Justice may be delayed, but it should never be denied.
The brutal killing of 26-year-old Tarun Kumar in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar shocked the nation and reignited a fierce debate on law, order, and accountability. What began as a small Holi dispute reportedly escalated into a violent clash between two families after a coloured water balloon accidentally splashed on a neighbour. Within minutes, tensions spiralled into a mob assault where Tarun was allegedly attacked with rods, bricks and stones by a group of people, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The incident triggered massive protests in the area, with residents demanding strict action against those responsible.
Several arrests were made and heavy police deployment was required to maintain order as anger spilled onto the streets.
Now, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has reportedly taken action by demolishing property linked to one of the accused, Nizamuddin. For many people demanding justice for Tarun, the bulldozer represents accountability finally catching up with those accused of brutality.
Some say the action came late. But as the old saying goes, “Der aaye durust aaye.”
For Tarun’s grieving family, justice will never replace the life that was lost. But the country continues to watch, hoping that the rule of law prevails and that such violence never repeats again.
